1.
Why not ask the guy who played it. http://basschat.co.u...8-jerry-scheff/
Mike Leech according to no. 91 on this list. http://www.ricksuchow.com/press-group-241.html
2. I,m ashamed to say The Land Of Make Believe by Bucks Fizz
3. I have a Rumble 350 which i use to use at pub gigs, but even then it is a bit over powered. I now use a Warwick Sweet 150 combo and leave the rumble for the bigger venues.
4.
Weren't Freur originally called a squiggly symbol? In that their name was simply a squiggly symbol, not an actual word/sound? J.
That was Prince wasnt it??
5. Looks heavy, even it is only 3lbs 3oz. It reminds me of George Harrisons Rosewood Tele
6. As said above, Macca played live bass with a live vocal when that was recorded - (Funnily enough exactly 51 years ago 3 days ago) There was no overdubbing then just live takes. Incidentally, on some of the outakes from that song which are floating about on youtube, there are subtle differences in the bass line which varies a bit from take to take.
7. The Specials debut album produced by Elvis Costello I believe. I had heard punk and I had head ska, but not together like this. Also Madness's One step beyond blew me away as a 15 year old wannabe bass player!
8. RIP Joe Maudlin http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/music/2015/02/07/joe-mauldin-buddy-holly-bassist-dies/23038149/
9. Apparently this was filmed by our singers wife. Featuring the first appearance of my Epiphone Thunderbird classic IV Pro, A cover of Angie by the Stones. Warning! Bass cockup alert! See if you can spot it
10. Do they? I wouldnt know as i cant read the description!
11. I could never get the bassline right that plays under the guitar solo on Are you gonna go my way by Lenny Kravitz. Not a difficult line but it appeared to be a random collection of chromatic runs with no pattern to them.
12.
"Face the face" from Townshends White City album. Dont know who's the original bass player - I doubt that it's Pino. Anyway - I just managed twice to get through the whole song. These shuffled 16th are right away too fast for me :-)
Steve Barnacle is the bassist.
13. I had a guy playing 'Air Bass' at our gig the other night!
14. Bruce Foxtons tone on the Jams 'All Mod Cons' album. Mr Clean is my personal favourite. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1V7fYeBAkc
15. I have no problem playing this or Sweet Home Alabama or Mustang Sally or Brown-eyed Girl etc. If its what the crowd want then its our job to provide it. This is probably why there are musicians sitting at home noodling instead of gigging. "I,m not playing that! its beneath me!" they quoth.
16. If your local come and see and hear some classic rock covers tonight, at the Corner House in Maidenhead.
17.
My Sharona. Just can't get the timing right on it.
Yes, another vote for that one. It definitely sounds easier than it is. Also, The Boys Are Back in Town was dropped by our lot too.
18. Geezer versus Phil Rudd? i would pay good money to see that!
19. Sometimes I shake a tambourine or rock back and forth like Andy Frazer in the video from the IOW. I,m not bothered by the songs alleged naffness. i will play want the crowd want to hear even if I cant stand the song I,m a musician after all.
20. When I was learning. Now you can buy them, but I made my own. 21. Squier JV 57 P Bass circa 1985. It was Fiesta Red with a white pickguard but I had it resprayed. Apologies for the 80,s hair.
22. The Precision and Jazz Basses are the Transit van of the bass world.
23. I have been playing an Epi T Bird regularly now for about 6 weeks. I dont like the strap buttons position but have got used to it. It also has a lovely creamy bass sound which I cant get on my Fender Precision, and the nut is thinner too.
