5. Is this the one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntEtPcqY4Qs
6. Theres a lot of respect on here for the Bass Gallery, but I found them rude and surly. Wunjos are much better IMHO.
7. Just watched this and enjoyed it! Surprised to see Mark Kermode mentioned in the credits, wonder what he contributed?
8. Beatles - Twist And Shout - Isley Brothers Summer Breeze - Isley Brothers - Seals And Croft
9. A Satellite. The shortscale bass version of this: It was terrible. I stuck sticky labels on the frets with the notes on. I bought it from a second hand shop in 1982 and sold it back to them when I was skint. My second bass was a Westone Thunder 1 from my mates mums Littlewoods catalogue.
10.
I don't need to tune my bass - the shop did it for me when I bought it
Yes, and I have welded the tuners so that they will never slip out of tune.
11. Focal Dystonia. Apparently Keith Emerson of ELP is a sufferer
12.
One question : whats with the glove???
I think he has problems with the nerves in his hand. The glove seems to help in some way to alleviate the problem.
13. And here is what we were all listening to in 1980. I was only 15 so was too young to understand the ways of the world. http://bettylou.zzruss.com/no1hits1980.htm
14. I was only 5 when they split up, although I think they were a huge influence on young bands in years to come. Even if you dont like them, you must accept that before the Beatles nobody wrote their own songs. BTW I was in Abbey Road studio 2 recently, where they recorded most of their stuff, and I was surprised at how small it was!
15. Thanks to sky+ I will slumber happily while it does its business.
16. Maybe if he learned a couple of pentatonic scales then he wouldnt have to churn out his root note uninspiring lines week in week out.
17. They are sitting on it if you look carefully.
18. I would rather play a great gig to an enthusiastic crowd for peanuts than a sh*t gig to one man and his dog for a lot more.
19. I'm the de facto musical director. Any questions on keys or chord progressions seem to land on my doorstep. Pus I make the tea and sweep up!!
20.
Nice one. Picked one up a couple of weeks back, just like yours, put some 4 year old flats on it straight away and took it to rehearsal. It's huuuge sounding. It's now my go to Ska bass. I'm a die hard P Bass player and the slim neck and uncomfortable feel put me off a bit to start with, but I'm getting used to it and love the sound it pushes out.
Sir Horace Gentlemen from The Specials uses a pukka Gibson T Bird these days so I guess it would sound great in a ska band!
21. Cheers Dougie. I may change the stock strings that came with it, I think they are stainless steels of some description and I am a Nickles fan. Apart from that, it came ready to play straight out of the box and needed no tweaking from me!
22. Sorry Blue, I,m afraid that in the UK badass is a bridge.
23.
Cool if that works for you - but I think that's a bit sad. Who is to say what the potential of that new "start-up" band may be? Every band had to start somewhere...
It appears that the OP is in the USA where 'Bar Bands' take things a bit more serious than us Brits in the local boozer on a Friday night playing for beer money!
24. I used the new Thunderbird bass last night in rehearsal. The neck was a lot slimmer then the precision necks that I am used to, It will take some getting used to, but the sound was immense. The guys commented all what a great sound this bass guitar had. This one has the American made pickup. I was a bit worried because I had heard that the these guitars suffered from neck dive but this was not the case. The sound suited a l lot of the heavier songs that we do much more than the fender precision bass, but i still find it a bit uncomfortable the body shape is a lot different but I guess I will get used to it.
