1. Well, they were good enough for The Shadows!
2. Maybe it was the dog on the bass drum that frightened him off!!
3. I,m not to sure what this article is trying to explain. I,m even more befuddled after reading it! http://www.wikihow.com/Be-a-Bass-Player-in-a-Band
4. I once played at a pub to one enthusiastic but drunk punter who left shortly after. We then played to nobody. The strange thing was the other bar round the back was heaving! The landlord paid us off after 30 mins saying we were not the kind of band he wanted at his venue!
5.
. So I was thinking about getting head.
6. Nice idea, You doing one for Windoze?
7. He has also changed the key to some of them although that doesnt seem to have made a difference. Apart from The Beatles "Rain" should be played at the 12th fret.
8. Cat Stevens did the same thing 30 odd years ago when he converted to Islam. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
9. I think this song was the follow up to their No 1 version of The Beatles OBLADIOBLADA. I dont think it was a big hit though. I think they were a Scottish band, or was that Badfinger??
10. I have been listening to this old Marmalade song from 1969 and what a great singalong tune! - But is the bass overdoing it a bit? I would certainly simplify this if I were to do it! What do you think?
11. I think the word you are looking for is "Shortlisted" And it appears you have been. Well done!
12. We dont play that loud, thats why I couldnt understand it. Even the punters asked us to turn it up! Theres another pub a few yards down the street who have really loud bands! A drummer friend of mine when he found out we were playing there said to me "Good luck" Now I know what he meant.
13. Played a pub in Surbiton last night with my rock covers band to a great and enthusiastic crowd. However, the governor of this pub was completely paranoid about the volume of the band! Even going outside to stand in the street at one point! He kept coming over telling us to turn it down as his neighbours complained to the council about the noise several times in the past year or so. After the third time he got nasty and threatened to stop the music and kick us out! I watched as he was going around closing all the windows on a warm evening leaving the punters and us sweating! So we carried on with our set, ACDC at a very soft level just doesnt have the same effect! Towards the end we said sod it! If we dont get asked back it will be to soon, and cranked it back up again! Funny thing is, at the end he offered us another gig in a few months as he liked us!
14. They were not allowed to sing the apparently highly insulting word "Cowson" according to a documentary on TOTP I saw a while back. Hence the the silence in the bit ..."Gertcha ...... Gertcha!"
15.
Or you could play keyboards with your feet...
16. Yes but I think I have another lot lurking about somewhere. If you like I can have a rummage in my bag. ...COMPLETED...
17. I guess the different woods used in the JV may also make a difference. Is it basswood? Maybe that affects the tone more with these strings?
18. Nice! If its not a refin this might give you an idea http://www.vintageandrare.com/product/Fender-Precision-P-bass-1978-Natural-34785
19. My name is Hobbayne and I have an unhealthy fascination for Fender Precisions I saw a lovely 78 model in the window of Wunjos yesterday and I,m sorry to say I went inside. However, I am happy to say I overcame temptation and came out with a Zoom effects pedal instead.
20.
Gents. Just found these on my old phone. They`ll do as a taster. Do better ones tomorrow. DSC_0387.jpgDSC_0388.jpgDSC_0389 (1).jpg
They dont appear to have appeared
21. I have been given the task of organising a band Calender. Basically, I am to get the dates from band members where they are not available for rehearsals, gigs etc and mark them in a calender. I then want to email this to all the members of the band to add their own dates to it. What is the best software for this? I am computer braindead!
22. Another vote for the Fender Rumble. I have used it in my rock covers band and deffo plenty punch in it!
23. Get it setup nicely and have the frets checked over for wear. As you have only been at it five months I wouldnt bother with a Pick up upgrade this early in the game. Just enjoy it and have fun with it.
24. All the oldies are turning in to covers bands, as indeed are The Eagles. Having stumped up enough wadge to keep Joe Walsh etc off the breadline, I am taking Mrs H to see them at the o2 next month. No one is interested in any new stuff, they just want to hear Hotel California and One Of These Nights and go home happy.
