1. TBH It was them that approached me first. I had an ad in which I stated that I was prepared to travel as far as Slough, Maidenhead in which they answered that they where further out than than that, and as i knew 80 percent of their stuff, they would love me to have a jam with them. Which I did. But I would rather join a more local band.
2.
That's still there, £750 with a £25 courier option. I looked at the photos, can't really see heavy wear apart from a chip right above the pickup... If I had money, I would have been driving to Reading right now...
Ten minuites later and it appears to have gone.
3. I went for an audition the other night, and the band were very good with lots of gigs booked. They seemed very impressed with my bass playing. The only thing is, they are all the way in Reading and I am in West London. It took me an hour and a half to get there. They have offered me the job last night, but I have been mulling it over for the last few days and have decided against it as it is too far. They are such nice blokes, I feel a bit rotten for saying no.
4. John Mc Vie's simple two note line on 'Dreams' from Rumours is what makes the song. Anything more complex would ruin the song IMO.
5. The bassist from Ash wears it low. This doesnt seem to hamper his playing anyhow.
6. Terrible. Genuine selfworn guitars look so much better than these fakes that look like someones gone made with a sander. I wonder who buys them? It must be younger folk who marvel at Rory Galleghers strat or other such beaten up guitars. I prefer the sort of thing that makes the guitar eyecatching, like Paul Wellers Pop art Ric, or George Harrisos home painted strat.
7. Didnt one of them pass away recently? In odd circumstances IIRC.
8. Nothings as much fun as standing in front of your bass amp at full volume and feeling that trouser flapping fun!
9. I play the verses with a little run up to the D and back to the A. I also do a little chromatic run from the C# to the E to land back on the A the same time as the drummer. Very effective.
10.
+1 to that. I believe she married Roy Wood of Wizzard. Which always struck me as a weird pairing.... Almost as weird as Bob Fripp and Toyah Wilcox. Anyway, back to Renaissance - for the last thirty-odd years it's felt like the love that dare not speak it's name - seriously uncool to like them. Both incarnations of the band had stand-out bassists and a Sounds poster of Annie Haslam on my bedroom wall got me through most of my formative years. That and the underwear section in mum's Freemans catalogue.... She was deaf in one ear apparently. Annie Haslam that is, not my mum.
I see you used the past tense there. Is she no longer with us?
11. I thought it was gonna be cleaned up. restrung and given a good setup? Its the same ad with a higher starting price! (Which would cost more in fees to post the ad)
12. I have always played a Fender Precision and have absolutely no interest in playing anything else.
13.
As a kid, I had a poster of Madness on my wall and used to gaze longingly at the black/maple P bass played by Mark 'Bedders' Bedford. That would be my choice, despite it being a standard instrument!
I,m sure I had a poster of Bedders playing a Fender Mustang too!
14. I have an old Squier bitsa which I use for the .... er..... lower quality establishments. It doesnt matter too much if it gets knocked over or covered in beer. I have kitted it out with spb 1 pups so it can hold its own with our enthusiastic drummer and guitarist.
15.
Whats a kbd?
Keyboard?
16. This lucky seller has his post almost permanantly bumped to the top!
17. I believe the Queen of the bassface, The girls from Haim are on tonights hogmanay show.
18. What about Timothy B Schmit from The Eagles? He can play Country, Rock, and a nice fretless bass part on New York Minuite
19.
Mate of mine inspected the Norwegian tree destined for Trafalgar Square off the ship. Has to be checked as free of any diseases/bugs on the import quarantine list. As usual, it was. Splendid tradition is the sending of that tree.
I saw it a few weeks ago, I was surprised at how tall it was!!
20. This made me laugh. It normally takes about 5-6 days to deliver the items. Then you can get the items after hearing knock on your door.
