1.
I respect your perspective Dave but will also point out that it was good enough for Toto (Mike Pocaro), Journey (hip replacement for Steve Perry), AC/DC (post mortem), Rolling Stones (post mortem), Metallica (post mortem) and The Who (post mortem x2) amongst others. I suggest there's no black and white position based on precedent.
Agree, but the band is called Fleetwood Mac. It would only be Fleetwood left from the original line up. Also the bands you have mentioned do not have the bassists name as the groups name.
2. And has cancelled the Australian tour. Get well soon John http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/music/fleetwood-mac-cancel-aussie-tour-due-to-the-illhealth-of-john-mcvie/story-e6frfn09-1226747818854
3.
Has WaterofTyne written all over this !
I dont get it?
4. I tried some Ernie Ball coated strings last year. They were terrible, sticky and some bits of white fluff kept coming out of them!
5. Apart from And I Love Her, The Beatles used it on I'll Be Back. (Not Arnie, but found on the Hard Nights Night album Edit - Hard Days Night! Just goes to show no one reads my threads
6. The Vintage Tony Butler P Bass has the tone pot disconnected, (As per Tonys' specifications) the buyer can reconnected it if they want to. Thats a great idea!
7. And I Love Her - The Beatles??
8. I,m thinking of leaving my band after xmas. In recent months we have become so bad. The drummers embarrasing mistakes, the singers forgotten the words to well known songs and making up his own. People have commented I think I will bail before I become a laughing stock!
9. Hmmm! With a typo so huge, I would love to see his sellers fees!
10. That has to be a mistake! £2500 unless JJB personally owned it!
11. These are good value and well repected. http://www.dawsons.co.uk/epiphone-allen-woody-rumblekat-bass-gold-hardware?gclid=CIz_9uW2qroCFbPItAodlh0AKQ
12. Strange one for me as I dont mind something like 'Take Five' by Dave Brubeck, but I cant stand all that cheesy trad stuff by Kenny Ball et al.
13. I woudnt worry about it, one of the mods will move it to a more relavant place.
14. The bass should be 'felt' not heard. Maybe true back in 1960, but not today!
15. I agree with you. Thats why I dont wet my knickers at all these idolised bassists a la Jaco, Wooten etc.
16. Ah! But if your singer is female? Back to the drawing board methinks!
17. I like the way the young lad has that Danelectro high up to his chin, although TBH a Fender Precision would hide him completely!
18. The Jazz pup cover really suits it!
19. I ordered a bass combo from GAK which came with a US kettle lead, however, I have loads of these leads so it wasn't a problem. They sent me a replacement the very next day though.
20.
Chas is also a top class bass player. Think he used to play bass in Heads Hands and Feet.
Didnt he also play bass for The Tornados and other Joe Meek stuff??
21. I have just recently dug out my copy of The Wall, I havent heard it in its entirety since I first bought it as a 15 year old when it first came out!
22. We need more of this! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAQ95Vln4I4
23. The new type of Fender cases are in the region of a hundred quid to buy seperately. It seems to make sense to sell 'em independent of the guitar.
24.
I've got something stuck in my head which appears to be 'the pattern'. It's an intro from a song from the first Blues Brothers movie, but I can't remember which one.
I cant turn you loose?
25.
From the 70's hit parade - Son of my Father
Cat Stevens?
