1.
I agree on the Gk front. If you want a more clangy agressive tone, compared to the low mid thump of the RH450, GK would be a VERY good choice. A GK MB800 would hammer the NV610!
Who knows, I might go there in the future but for now I want to see if I was missing out on anything by having a lightweight bass head. Yes... I realise it's a bit dumb but it's better to do it in my 20's than my 50's
 2.
Hartke seems to get quite a bit of flak but I'm not sure why.
If they're good enough for Ellefson, Hamm and Sheehan they're more than good enough for me
 3. Unfortunately I won't be in a position to buy until next month
 4.
Ampeg SVT7 Pro, or GK1001RB? Any particular reason for moving away from the RH450? I'm gassing for one but can't quite decide whether to pull the trigger or not!!
Im just missing some the clank I used to get. The acg preamp goes to 10khz and the rh450 rolls off at 6 so im just missing some of that awesome functionality you know? If I could keep it and get something else then I would but finances wont allow.
 5.
gotta be a valve amp , I use a ampeg SVT with berg cabs and it sounds amazing, shits all over my shuttle 9.2 ( don't get me wrong I love my genz )
I do like the ampeg sound butthre valve ampegs are well out of budget. The hartke base sound seems pretty clean but responds well to effects. Plus two of my favourite bassists are hartke endorsees and I am yet to hear a hartke clip I dislike.
 6.
Genz Benz Streamliner or Shuttlemax 9.2 and throw a hell of a lot of watts at it The Aggie amps would also be awesome. Your RH750, if you still have it? That fits that style of sealed cab very well. Don't underestimate it!
Its the rh450 I have and I plan on moving it on shortly. I may regret it but im just wanting to try something a bit different you know?
 7.
Something with serious grunt? Less than £600? Like the Kilo? I have a LH1000 Hartke- all the power of the Kilo but a more simple EQ- great tone- can work bridged and will put our 750W into 8 ohms- or 1000 into two 4 ohm cabs. I use this with the Hydrive 410 cab which is 8 ohms. Massive headroom- lovely warm tone. Use this in a soul band with a Jazz bass- switch off the tweeters- still great clarity. Murdered my Markbass LM2. Can be had for about £440 from the tinternet. Recommended.
I really am heading the Hartke route, likely to go Kilo over LH1000 though as I like plenty of control in the EQ section
 8.
Can't help you on the amp I'm afraid but I can recommend this back brace http://www.physioroo...3200/38202.html
This is going to be part of my new workout regime I used to carry a Line 6 300pro up and down 4 flights of stairs so I think I'll be ok
 9.
You need a big amp for a cab like that. DB750 / DB751 ;-0
I've tried Aguilar before and there was just "something" that didn't sit right for me... except with a dingwall. It sounded epic with that thing! It could have been the cab (can't recall what it was at the time) but it didn't make me grin like some amps do
 10.
Mesa titan would be really really nice!
I would love a Mesa but can't stretch much above the £600 mark
 11. Beware... that may be because amp tolex is harder wearing
 12. Right so I've given in to GAS, the Bergantino NV610 is on the way (YAY!). Generally I play rock / metal, I'm currently GASSing for a hartke kilo (the reviews I've seen all seem to fit the bill for what I'm after) Any other suggestions, I do realise I won't be able to use all of what the Kilo is capable of into the Bergantino but to be honest... I shouldn't need too!
 13.
Do entries have to be hosted on Soundcloud? My piece for this month may have a visual element to it, so could I use YouTube instead?
Youtube is fine you experimental so and so you
 14. I've just started my refin thread.
 15. Yeah yeah, it's a guitar (well I was hardly going to ruin a lovely bass on my first attempt at a refin). Picked up this in the recycling section from Neil_d and the plan is to try a rather exotic refin on this. Pics : How it was Electronics out : Bridge off : Battery Cover etc : Time for the sanding to begin (I've only done a small section at the moment as I havn't had much time) The plan? I'm thinking of using alsacorps chrome paint to chrome this beastie, if that goes well I may well do the neck aswell (although I'm thinking jet black for the back of the neck and then chrome for the headstock).
 16. Sorry to hear your in this situation. Have a bump for an awesome bass, hoping you have a small windfall on the lottery so you dont have to sell
 17.
Only downside is hearing more top end can mean you hear the crap sound you are making that you didn't hear before, its a big issue with guitarists.
18. Why not treat your lovely matamp to a nice flightcase and just unpack it then stack it on top when playing. Protection and elevation win win!
 19.
Alan is a great guy, and, I have to say I agree with his comments. There really does seen to be a lot of numpties surfacing in this forum making incredibly naive comments.
SVT!!! TIM!!! Whore Clown!
 20. I'm 99.999% sure they're both gone. Keep your eyes peeled, these come up fairly often and they're great cabs
 21. Both gone (pending pickup) ! Thanks to everyone for their interest. It's been a pleasure
 22. In all fairness this may have predated the effects section
