1. Ou7shined did a pretty nice tolex finish on a cab IIRC, it might be worth dropping him a line, he had a build thread somewhere too
  2. I wouldn't mind getting a bass lesson or 12 from John Myung and/or Dave Ellefson
  3.
Ok. I tend to strap a copy of Voxengo's SPAN across the 2 buss and use that whenever I need more frequency spectrum info and am looking at a specific track or two and need that help (Reaper's eq has a similar interface though, in that it shows the output underneath the EQ curve on the graph which is very useful smetimes. I also found a couple of very neat oscilloscopes which can take multichannel inputs - awesome for setting up ducking compressors, or release times and pumping effects! Cant remember what they are called now, but if you do a search you'll find what I am talking about I'm sure.
Fair enough, the only other problem with protools is you can't use VSTs
  4.

It looks like this was taken with a fish eye lense
  5.
That's some challenge! How about Meshuggah - Bleed I don't know which is harder... the right hand technique or the timing!
I THINK (it's hard to tell at this speed) that I am playing most of it right now) but when it drops to the B (or more accurately A#) string I just can't play that kind of speed. I'm not sure what it is but whatever my bottom string is on my bass I just can't pick the same speed as the ones below. I think it may be something to do with the fact that I lightly rest my thumb on the string below (when not on the bottom string). I'm playing with a pick though
  6.
yes I only want it for the Synth and the Chorus not really bothered about the amp bit
Get a line6 bass pod or similar then
  7. Contact a moderator when you first start to worry It's easier to fix a small problem early on than a big one later on. Looks like Johns in contact now, best of luck with it all

    Noisegates?
There's an easier way to stop squeals on a guitar: Turn your guitar volume down, stand in front of the guitar amp and keep turning the 'gate' level until the guitar only makes a noise when you hit the strings REALLY hard. What you need to do next sounds a bit odd, but bear with me. Turn the 'gate' level up gradually until the guitar doesn't make any noise at all - ideally the 'gate' level will be at maximum by the end of this step. Next you'll need to put the guitar down and walk away. Now pick up a bass and have some fun
9.
I've currently got a Shure SM58 wired as I play bass and do backing vocals in a covers band but the other band I'm in are singerless and I've 'inherited' the frontman post which requires a bit of moving around! Prepared to pay upto around £200 I guess which will prob get something secondhand, haven't a clue what a half decent one costs
I don't know how much wireless adapters are but this was the best microphone for my singers voice when we tested a bunch in that budget : http://www.dv247.com...crophone--65718 This came a close second although it is over your budget Beta 87a
  10. The both have frequency analyzers built in which I used to find bloody useful in logic (it's pretty much the only thing I miss) and don't have in protools. I have a frequency analyzer in protools but it runs seperate to the EQ and is a bit of a PITA to run. The graphic interests me a bit more out of the two though (although it will probably be pretty damn pricey)
  11. I would recommend on concentrating find a mic that suits you and if you really have the need then get a wireless for it afterwards. If it's already wireless, that's just a treat. IMHO finding a mic that suits you should come first. How much are you looking at spending?
  12. If you're ever in the area you're more than welcome to try out my ACG. It's in Drop C though
  13. Plugin GAS is deadly I currently want : http://www.waves.com...CFcjKtAodWgoA0Q ($200) and / or recently announced : The waves GEQ http://www.gearslutz...zer-plugin.html
  14. You could try contacting Wizard about your pickups, if you describe the sound you want to them I'm sure they could sort something out If you're going active then drop an ACG pre-amp in there (if you're not scared of something a bit different), you'll get absolutely oodles of bass out of it and be able to mix in the other frequencies to suit
  15. Looks pretty bad to me. It might be worth haggling if youre willing as getting a new nut fitted wont cost you much.
  16.
You're a hard lot, all right. Can't leave a decent thread alone, can you..? A perfectly reasonable question, even informative for those with a bit less culture than some, and in you swarm like Brazilian Killer Bees, You're a hard lot. Oh, well, at least Milty's OK, I suppose...
Calm down I saw the thread and wanted to check it wasnt about recording. Seeing it wasn't I contributed in the only way I could, humour.

Are you on windows 8? If so are you using the app version?
  18. I've had both the Line6 110 and the Line6 300, I loved both and with a bit of tweaking got some sounds I really loved (I only got rid of them because of moving up to the TC RH450). I loved the chorus and the distortion on them. The synth wasn't actually too bad once you figured out how to alter the sound. I managed a pretty passable "deeper underground" out of it. The 300 was bloody heavy though
  19.
Can I ask for my last name to be removed from the OP please.
I've sorted that for you.
  20. There's a couple of versions of it on a 4 string but I prefer running through strings to going up the neck whenever possible which made it easier to what I found online
  21.
nice one looking forward to seeing the vid. I really want to learn then whole song at some point.
To play on a 4 or 6 string? I've modified a tab I downloaded to suit my playing style which I'm happy to share out if anyone wants it (it's for a 6 string though)
  22.
I really enjoy playing pull me under until it gets to that arpeggio bit, then it just gets silly
Yeah... It took two weeks of playing to get it up to 100% but I managed it last night, gotta try again tonight and hope I can still do it
