1. Hmm interesting but VERY broad subject. How are you going to segment the sections? By genre? New bass developments etc? The reason I ask is because take for example the fender precision. The same precision can do bright and clanky for say metal and can also do muted "thud" type stuff for umm... motown? (I don't listen to any music with that type of sound ), now both of these recordings could be from the same era, same bass but just produced in a different way. However, as you point out there is also the aspect of new developments, active / passive / filter based EQ's / new amp technologies / DI vs Mic'd / Mic Techniques
2. I'm waiting to see if they do a B9.1ut size version of the B3, I can't see many other reasons why they would be moving on these so cheap otherwise. If you look to sell drop me a PM with what you're looking for please as I wouldn't mind having the ambient type effects on my board
3.
Try harder man .......no pressure
You are the "one" Jimryan, Basschat depends on you remembering
4. Hey Stag! Didn't realise you'd joined the TC crew!
5. I'm quite fond of this [sharedmedia=core:attachments:32268] [sharedmedia=core:attachments:109199] My other favourite bass isn't really what I would call "pretty" it's more "cool"
6. It's worth what the market is willing to pay / whichever is most comfortable or fits the music best / SVT!!!! / No one pays any attention to the bass anyway Delete as appropriate when context is available
7. Thicker picks are generally less clicky, also you can look at the picking angle and how it effects the sound you're making. As previously mentioned foam under the bridge would probably help too.
8. Check your output levels on the pedals it could be you're just boosting too much.
9. It was on my "in-ears" that I use for work / gym. I'll try to remember to try them on my monitors as they're quite unforgiving.
10. Excellent stuff, really like what you lot have done there. The only thing I would say about the mix is the vocal line is just a touch sibilant, fine for one or two tracks (and works fairly well in this case) but over an entire album could be a bit tiring on your ears Keep up the good work!
11.
say £60 a head, and they have usually agreed before they work it out.
Sneaky! Love it!
12. Now that is nifty... 5 minutes! Whoop!
13. Hi Rick, You need to post prices to advertise items for sale. edit : Also just realised that this is in the wrong section would you like me to move it?
14. Not a huge fan of that top horn at the moment, but that's me. I prefer things a tad... pointier
15. I'm just thinking of a convenience point of view, I'll happily download and listen to all of these through my studio monitors as well as my in-ears and over-ear headphones, but not everyone will have the time to do the same, I've also listened to all the tracks streamed to my phone with no headphones to see how they translate there. However even on the composition competition (where every track is different) we're not getting THAT many votes a month because people don't have the time to listen through them all.
16. I think it's a little unrealistic to expect people to download the tracks to listen (it's optimistic enough to expect many to listen to different variations of the same track several times)
17. I just bounced down to cd quality as I didnt think the original files were that heavy from their size.
18. Good point about the downloads. I'll sort that tomorrow
19. Here's my entry : https://soundcloud.com/thebrokensky/no-second-chance-bc-mix-comp I'll be completely honest, not even attempted to run it through the K Meter thingy (I only use ProTools and it doesn't like VST's), it seems about the same sort of volume as the other tracks I've compared to). Been a while since I've used Pro Tools in anger but really enjoyed getting back into it. Next time I'll have to set aside more than 2 hours for my attempt All criticism welcomed
20. Just spent about an hour on this. Got a real "old cop show" vibe from it so I've gone down that route. Got a bit more of a "vintage" type sound to my ears. Fairly happy I suppose, quite different from every elses Need to let my ears rest a bit now before I do any more.
21. Anything with mustang type pickups
22. Im unsure with bh series but you can apparently just run two of the rh series heads into each other through speakon
