1. IIRC the ATK's have a neck shape similar to a P bass. P basses and stingrays are generally more round, "fatter" necks Jazzes and sterlings are generally flatter, "thinner" necks Warwicks actually come in a variety on neck profiles
2. I think once you add an extra string you need to forget about what profiles used to suit you, a 5 string jazz doesn't feel like a 4 string jazz etc. Assuming by Jazz you mean skinny, then Ibanez might be worth a look.
3. I have to be honest, I love my P bass but having played a fair few different Fender 5's (some set up fantastically by members on here at basschat)... They just don't work for me, at all... Basses I would prefer in a similar price range that I've played: Musicman (I like the 5's but not the 4's...) Warwick Yamaha TRB series (Honestly, one of the best I've played) Sadowsky (About on par with the TRB) Dingwall (THE BEST 5 I've played, not the combustion though so slightly higher budget) All of these have played much better and generally responded better to my playing than any of the fenders I've tried.
4. As long as "Paper Soldiers" is owned by you and not the old band then I can't see a problem with continuing down that route as long as you don't want people to consider it a completely new project.
5. Is it a REALLY big bass trap?
6. I take your :
Excellent, excellent...
and raise you :
7.
I also like zero frets.
That would be a fretless then
8. I love my 1/4 pounders, if you're every over my way you're more than welcome to pop over and try it out.
9. Is installing monkey bars really essential for a studio?
10. Looking goooooooooooooo... ... etc ... ...oooood
11. You know... not once have I used a reference... I just do what I think sounds best. I'm probably weird
12. I like the fact that you tell us what colour the pixel is
13. Actually, tell him there's a rigorous initiation that he has to pass first then mess with him until it gets boring
14.
* you're !
Corrected, I'm usually pretty good with these things. Unfortunately I was talking a sly break from my work and typed in a hurry
15. Convince him that his own project would have much better prospects, I mean... you're JUST a cover band after all
16. They look nice Other than that, umm... they're hard wearing?
17. Get a second hand bass on here, I'd recommend around about the £200 mark, I doubt there'll be anything even close new which would be as good. A fairly decent second hand amp (with DI out) would mean you don't need to worry about volume. For value for money I would recommend ashdown or hartke. There's also some pretty insane deals going around the TC electronics deal.
18. The rh450 will actually run down to 2ohms iirc
19. Are you hanging the last person who's cheque bounced?
