1. Ive started something.. just gotta learn to sing and play guitar to do what I want lol
2. My 2p... Personally I think £20 to join and sell a bass may put some off joining. However £2 an ad could work, especially if it was £2 an ad up to a £20 limit (so once you've spent £20 you don't have to spend any more and your ads for the year from this date are free)
3. In a similar situation ourselves, any recommendations on cd pressing companies?
4. Whoa thanks Skol! Owe you a beer mate, and on the photo front one of the promotion companies I contacted yesterday has since moved on from doing promos to professional photography. However, as I impressed and chatted (we ended up exchanging numbers and continuing to stay in contact through text) we've been offered an hour long photoshoot for an amazing price So good photos early next year!
5. It kick in for a couple, just for trying some different sounds
6. Yep already scouring other bands of a similar styles previous gig listings
7. Nice one skank, ill definitely be changing that around
8. Might just try the phoning method too
9. We're waiting on better pics to arrive atm but they're much smaller in the email. One comment I have had back is that the letter is a bit long
10. Would the above seem good to most people?
11. I've been mailing promotion companies / venues with rough variations on this below :
Good Afternoon, My band are interested in the gigging outside of our usual area and I was wondering about what the process is with booking through your promotion company? Our band is Cerberus Cell, as a 3 piece melodic death metal band we like to think we deliver something a little bit different as an experience. As we use programmed drums and synths live there is complete control over the sound behind the desk which means excellent sound wherever we go (as well as a quick change over). Our last gig was a pre-launch for our first album "Lessons In Divinity" (Demo Here) and was our best gig to date with excellent crowd participation. As yet we haven't played much outside of Cambridgeshire but are getting very good results in this area and are looking at branching out starting next year. If you could contact me regarding booking a gig (or a few) that would be great so we can start sorting through all the details. We look forward to hearing back from you Kind Regards Ricky Greenwood
12. Oh good, come over mine and sing for me
13.
didn't stop me last month
Why would me not singing stop you?
14.
I think all are valid but face to face or phone call are best. If you get talking to the booker...you can duck and dive any way to get the gig... assuming you can deliver on your patter whereas mail, txts. etc are easily dismissed or forgotten. Same with websites and CD's.. altho you might need them as backup at some point for your audio or videos links. FB is ok... as it can be active chat. If you have a website, don't bother with myspace, please... it looks so chummy and half-cocked. If someone sent me a link to a Myspace bandpage, as their core website, I'd write them off as jokers/delusional :lol;
I tend to link to our facebook page but a link to play our demo track direct through reverbnation
15.
Depends what type of gigs you are looking for. Pub gigs? Get a demo and a basic video done, nothing fancy, just video a rehearsal from a tripod. Just needs to demonstrate that you can play. Then go knocking with it on a CD.
Not many pubs will entertain the idea of death metal unfortunately. Most of the places that will have us are more "clubs" of some description or music dedicated pubs.
16. He kinda reminds me of someone who has "rocked too hard" so may go down that route... Difficult as I can't sing However I finally have an awesome drum library
17. We're just starting to branch out booking gigs now, any advice on the best method? Email, Telephone, Promo Pack? We don't currently have a promo pack together (it's on the to do list) Cheers
18. Cheeky question is it against the rules to use drum samples to reinforce or replace the originals?
19. Price is needed in the ad Moved to the correct forum
20.
Watch your back... Steinberg Virtual Bassist
We would love a real drummer in many ways but at the same time there's a certain convenience to this Plus finding one that we all get on with could be an issue, we've all become best mates
