1. Forgot to say the CD's have arrived thanks Also drop me a line if you play in EA
2. Some of the first stuff I learnt was Megadeth, which is actually quite tricky but I learned a lot from it. I highly recommend "Angry Again" to work on having to use all of your fingers
3. Firstly, Welcome to Basschat I think it's safe to say that the forum is doing all that needs to be done in the way of discouraging sales of rickenfakers on the site. However, it is one of the many uses of the site that we have reviews such as these to tell us whether a bass is good or not. Irrespective of brand this is something that we all want to know. By reviewing this bass all he the user has done is tell us what he thought of it, he's not trying to sell it so no harm done The fact that an Ebay user has decided to use a review from this site is entirely up to him, he's not trying to pass it off as a real Rickenbacker (it clearly says in the title that it isn't), it merely states that it is a good bass (as is there perogative). If they WERE trying to sell it as a real Rickenbacker then yes, I could see a real problem with the ad, however it's on Ebay not Basschat and so we have no power at all. I'm sure Mr. Hall or someone affiliated with him will pick up on the ad soon enough, infact feel free to drop him a line about it yourself but we don't have anywhere near the resources (or the responsibility) to police every sale on every site. As such we must contain ourselves to policing our own forum. Sorry to hear you previously got ripped off with a sale, I trust it didn't happen on here? If you're ever in doubt about a purchase again a thread on here can turn up wonders if you have access to some decent photos of the item you're thinking of buying.
4. Can I just say how satisfying it is to see everyone enjoying this so much
5. I think one month we should have a "speed round" where we all have to try and compose a piece in a single day
6. Have a listen (it'll probably put these as .ipb just change that to .mp3 and they'll work fine)
7. Oh it sounds TERRIBLE on it's own. I cringe apparently
8.
i always find that in the studio, i have tons more gain added to the sound than i do in live shows or rehearsals to cut through a bit more. End up sounding like Lemmy! its awesome.
This was so I cut through LESS
9.
So my question is, given the circumstances outlined, can I get away with a 6 minute tune?
The limitation is on so that should we wish to after of a years of these we can do some "winners tracks" cd's 12 * 6 minutes = 72min (should JUST fit on the cd still) so go for it
10. Hmm... I'm in Norwich for a week prepping for our first headline slot. Might book in for a couple of 1 1/2 hour sessions. Let me have a think
11. Basically I was laying down a bassline to one of my bands tracks for the upcoming album release a couple of nights back. The funny thing is I just couldn't get a sound that sounded good in the mix in my usual arsenal. What did I end up with? Well I up the input gain on the RH450 so the clip light was coming on a LOT (I was playing in the mix at the time) and it sounded great! Listened to the track in isolation and it is bloody horrid it hairy, undefined mush... which it turns out is EXACTLY what the track needed for the bass part in the particular track... go figure
12. As usual here's my response to it, do what works best for you. My approach upsets quite a few people because it's "un-economic" / dumb but it works for me. I read pitch and positioning from tab and the rhythm from the notation. I can sight read in this way I CAN read pitch on score (just not as quickly and definitely not sight read) This works for me
13.
Yeah that occurred to me after I wrote it Charic. I can only extend my sincerest apologies for wasting your time.
All is forgiven
14. Considering the thread title I found this thread quite disappointing
15. Is this only in IE9? Or the windows application of IE in Win 8? I don't currently have a working box with Win 8 on it yet (the beast should be arriving in a few weeks).
16. You could octave up and chuck on some distortion
17. Instead of trying to make it simpler, try to make it more complex. Set yourself a challenge. Even if you can't do it then you are more likely to progress.
18. Although from the same size this may actually be worse
19. Their logo looks terrible like on a headstock
20.
I must be the only one who constantly has to ask our guitarist to turn up! In fact he's the one member of the band who doesn't cause any headaches, he turns up on time, learns the songs, he's never too loud and he has zero ego! The only problem is he makes me look bad
Ask him if he's a closet bassist
21.
If you're hiring the venue, then I'd expect something like this to be a factored cost. I'd get them a dated cheque but if you don't trust them, don't book it....
I trust them but none of us have chequebooks perfectly reasonable etc. I've asked to meet to Exchange details and discuss terms. Thanks guys
