1. Bit more woodwork and painting to do this weekend and were away! There's a folding/locking cutout on the back and the lid is removable.
2.
How is that a downer?
She might not approve of the groupies?
3. Should've told her you hate her voice too, atleast people pay to come and hear yours
4. I could have sworn harris used SD 1/4lbs
5. It could be TWO telecasters.... that would be more ugly
6. Agreed! It has to be done! I have to say, I was impressed by barefaced for the first time at the se bash while si was doing his Fx talk. I've not been a fan at all previously as they've always sounded gutless to me, loads of bass etc but no oomph. The two compacts at the se bash seemed to be kicking that out nicely. I'm starting to believe they may be more suited to those of us who are Fx heavy. The standing niggle for barefaced with me is the looks, hopefully that will be addressed in the future
7. TBH I'm wondering if there's a point where he'll reach the same decision as me: IE. I was about to spend my first full time jobs paycheck and decided to buy a bass as a reward for my hard work. The choices were between a warwick and a musicman, I liked both but then on a whim I mailed ACG and lo and behold it worked out cheaper aswell as being MY bass
8. If in writing with a value you could always take it to small claims if needs be
9. This is why I'm asking they usually seem more pricey which is funny because guitars are generally cheaper than their bass counterparts
10.
I like reading about bassists talking about their favourite bits of gear. I also like reading about normal everyday bassist on the pub circuit sharing stories about gear that really lasts and is excellent value for money! Truckstop
Sounds like basschat
11. Probably around about the £1k mark, he likes the simple things in life so although it's a custom build it would probably be a fairly basic one. As a good custom bass can be had at around £725 from Shuker http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/bospec.htm I would expect to find something similar from a guitar builder, especially as it uses less materials
12. I would still do the gig if... He could guarantee another slot at a paid gig further down the line in writing.
13. Thanks Alan I look forward to seeing the new shapes
14. If he doesn't want to get annoyed with him tell him to go electric
15. Just wondering really (I'm no guitarist ) but are there any guitar builders who offer the same kind of value for money as ACG and Shuker? (I know ACG do guitars, do Shuker?) I'm trying to induce GAS in my guitarist as he was talking about getting a new guitar
16. I'll take it won't break anytime soon please What are the odds at? I think you're all forgetting how hard it is to break basses
17. The EABB doesn't get the same number of people turn up but we still have a good time the things to check are: Venue!!! (Probably the most difficult bit) Close to public transport Advertisement Timing (before or after a public holiday wont work) It's the repeat customers where you'll do best though
18. Ah yes, the adding images to PM's... I'm afraid only the method you currently has gets around that and it will probably disappear after a little while too! I'll add it to the list
19. Good point from above... Find the right pick thickness for you... it makes a huge difference My personal favourites are 1.14mm some people prefer 3mm monsters!
20. Here's a picture of the orange in use Now been tidied up a bit
21.
That is ok..will you be telling people you do this or is it really obvious..? or would you rather people didn't twig..? I think this is the crux of the problem Of course, we know this stuff happens in the industry and we expect it from Cowell and Britney and the like.. but I tend to be from the LIve is Live school or you aren't upto much.. Was watching a band 'Within Tempration' online..and that girl can really sing but not one BV amongst them in a 6 piece band.. WTF..!!!!
It will most likely be very obvious, I'm currently working on learning backing vocals but I have some serious learning to do first as well as a current confidence issue. We don't mind if people know, we'll probably mention it on our facebook page, there's nothing to hide etc. We like our songs how they're recorded and we can currently get close but this will help a consistent sound at all venues aswell as giving us a bit more of a "polished" feel And we're only a 3 piece band... I wonder if we provide "the most metal per musician"
22. It's a locking flap the woodwork has started now and a nice vibrant orange is in order I like the idea of input/output ports although I will probably keep the power cable seperate
23. We're looking at getting on of these for our band. Not so much for auto-tune (although we'll probably use it while writing), more for inspiration and beefing out the sound, adding a bit of harmony and general effects. Used in the right way it's a tool rather than a cheat. Plus the voicelive 2 fits with our on stage setup anyway as we program our drums etc and can feed it the relevant keys as it goes aswell as kicking in effects and patches automatically from the computer. If people take a dislike to it... my advise? Don't come see us We're on a mission to sound the best we can sound and to get our recorded sound live we need something like this as we layer our vocalist.
24. Just bought a Tech 21XXL from fretmeister. Nice and easy to deal with and great comms. Thoroughly happy with the transaction, deal with confidence
