I really like that dude, bit sad it ended so soon. Bass seems a bit (just a tad) too loud in the mix on these monitors but loving the tune... more please!

What's an active Vase?

I have to be honest, I've not done a great deal of reading on the mixer I linked, it just looked like a quality bit of kit

Well I spoke about this a while back, a monthly composition competition. A picture will be posted by the previous months winner to act as inspiration for that months piece. The piece should be no more than 5 minutes long and should be composed and recorded in the same month as the piece in question. To be clear, any instruments / sounds can be used although copyright should be followed for obvious reasons. Also Basschat T&C's should be followed within the actual recording so : [i]6. Voting will be carried out through poll... So without further ado, the first picture (I searched September ) All entries to be in by the 23rd September (one week of voting to follow) Happy composing!

I was about to say do you really need 96kHz it's a nice to have The Korg D888 is a quality bit of kit (I've had mine for years, just not much call for it lately, although that may change shortly!). They're discontinued but I'm sure they'll turn up on the bay now and again, it was just over £500 new so should be within your budget. This looks pretty nifty http://www.dv247.com/studio-equipment/zoom-r24-digital-recorder-sampler-usb-interface-and-daw-controller--74227

Help for tonight!! My markbass combo died just before last night's gig!
charic replied to MoJoKe's topic in Amps and Cabs
Damn sorry to hear that, is there any possibility of a DI into a desk? Not ideal I know but it will get you out of schtum -
Seem to be mixed reviews on the net but at least with Thomann you can return it if you don't like it.

I keep forgetting I don't have work Monday. Gonna use it to get these tracks sorted for an audition on Wednesday

You might get more gigs if you could read tab

charic replied to pobrien_ie's topic in General Discussion
Yep, I've got a 60th which WAS standard when I got it -
Can't comment on how accurate it is but they usually get you close : http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/a/anthrax/got_the_time_guitar_pro.htm You'll need tuxguitar or guitarpro to view it

Your problem is your tensing your jaw? Get some chewing gum and chew it while you practice (you may need to force yourself to do it at first). Once you're able to chew the gum without thinking about it then you can stop
...do you think it's right to sack your students if you feel that they are wasting your time?
Think of it as quitting a part time job, can you fill the void with another pupil?
It is now 2pm whereby he was booked in for an hour with me. At 1.40pm he texts me to cancel. Not the first time he has cancelled with such poor notice. He has cancelled every rescheduled lesson over the past three weeks. Last week really cheesed me off as I managed to squeeze in a lesson an hour before left the house to head to the Brecon Jazz Festival for a performance with little time to spare to get dressed and packed before hand and he cancelled that lesson. I was thankful I had the extra time to get ready, but I busted my balls to fit him in for a lesson that day.
Introduce cancellation fees as mentioned.
He's not interested learning any theory and simply just wants me to show him how to play songs in his band.
You work for him, not the other way around. When I have lessons (rare), I ask either for the theory to only be touched on if it's applied as I already have a basic (grade 5) understanding of theory.
He learning rate is very slow
That's upto him, the slower he learns the more lessons he needs, I expect he's not doing his "homework" but it's not your loss, far from it.
and is quite an arrogant little swine. In a nut shell, I don't like teaching him and I am losing potential earnings.
Again can you fill the slot? If you can then fair enough but maybe you should give him a "warning" first.
I want to can him as soon as I calm down and call him to say I won't be teaching him again. I don't want to start a reputation of being iron fisted by being selective about whom I teach, but do you think I am doing the right thing?
Again can you fill the slot? If you can then fair enough but maybe you should give him a "warning" first. That way you don't come across as iron-fisted.
