1. Stiggys just a bit frustrated Shockwave, he was desperate enough to ask me after all
  2.
I love it. All I'd change would be the pick. Sounds like Delrin. I'd go with a nylon 1mm to take the harshness out of the highs.
We've moved from body woods to pick material?
  3. No problems We need to decide on a panel of tests then that should be done
  4.
Very detailed, accurate and fast. I've worked on ATCs before. That's why I picked em!
Interesting, what's the closest mainstream monitor that they could be compared too? I've seen Genelecs compared similarly although whether that's actually true or not remains to be seen from my side of things (not enough experience on them, maybe about a year)
  5.
What..? They're 'pucked' already..? What have I missed..?
damn phone
  6.
ATCs are now fitted properly and up and running. They sound awesome!
So which school do the ATCs fall into? Incredibly accurate, colour in a pleasant way or if it sounds good on them they'll sound good anywhere. And what made you puck them :-)
  7. Belt and braces unless you're just recording yourself. Do the sodding lot, nothing to lose at the end of the day
  8.
I would love to see this discussion put in to action. I mean, maybe we should arrange a bass day type meeting with a set of cabinets of different configurations in a room with say a couple of amps and some source material - say, recordings of a Bass guitar that can be repeated for each test. THEN have some techie guinea pigs up front to describe and demonstrate these 'issues' accurately. We'd all be able to have a clear understanding of what these polar problems and phasing problems sound like. Right?
Will happily set this up for the next EABB if people will donate amps/cabs to the cause!
  9.
It's a fusion music. It's basically post-Schaumburg, Euro style, free-improvisation that had it's heyday in the UK in the 70s (Evan Parker with Derek Bailey Gavin Bryars, etc) but is still practised regularly at London venues. That combined with a bit of free-jazz. Thats where the chord sequence comes from. This has also been mixed with a light smattering of modern electronica (Microstoria, Oval) hence the noodling with chaos pads and the like. Free-impro and electronica have been faithful bedmates for years. After you establish the form and come armed with the chord sequence it's basically a cosmetic decision as to how you arrange the track and where you place the pockets of free impro. I think they do it quite well, although, as I said, I don't particularly like their free-impro noodles.
Wow, impressive diagnosis... don't know what it means but it sounds impressive I understood LONDON

    Damned GAS

I reckon you need a yamaha attitude instead or a Dingwall or maybe a Shuker?
  12.
My Markbass 1x12 sounds the same whether I stand right in front of it, yards away from it or to one side of it. I've never understood why this is, having had all sorts of problems at times with stacked 1x15 + 2x10.
Have you tried turning it on?
  13.
so got home last night started noddling along to some foo fighters wasnt really doing much for me.on goes electric wizard (return trip) its got one of those riffs that hipnotises you. played along for most of song all in all played for around 30 minutes onwards and upwards hopefully same again tonight
Question : Are you practicing sat down or stood up? I find that if I practice sat down it feels a bit like work whereas if I'm stood up then it's a lot more fun (even if it's simple and relatively boring).
  14.
OK, you asked for it. Now, pay attention . . . . . . . . er, hang on, you said that the audience actually liked the sound? Pass me the board rubber . . . .
15.
Ewww - you just made coffee come out of my nose you git...
New cab

I really like the red grill! Hmm should I modify my TC cabs...
  17.
Music has only a certain amount of forms that can be stretched, before it becomes somebodies bliss and sombody elses absurdity.
That explains slap bass
  18. Currently I have a 4 string bass in drop C, a 4 string bass in drop D or E Standard (easy enough to switch) and my 6 in standard
  19. NICE!!! I need to be able to do that
  20.
(maybe a very loud budgie with a good PA could pose a problem )
That depends on the microphone, plus I'd be worried about feedback
  21.
And as we all know the truth that TC amps only put out about three and a half watts, you will need as much speaker area as possible to be heard over a tweeting budgie. Actually, I'm probably just jealous.
22. Whoa, nice bass. Didn't realise Gus's retailed so high! Good luck with the sale!
  23. Sounds like you're lacking low mids... or it MIGHT be to do with your settings on the compressor.
