1. The nicest P bass I've ever played was... my MIM P bass (swapped out pups and bridge for a bit more aggression) It's all about what's right for you.
2.
2 week tour Sorted! If you do fancy it, theres a venue called the Moorings bar - great system (ampeg backline for bass ) and you can doss in the flat above for free.
Free acommo eh? Hmm... it's back as a possibility Tbh I love Ampeg gear but would still prefer to use my own (can take a while to dial in "my" sound otherwise)
3.
This is still too ambiguous for me, who counts as the events organiser, The brides mother at the village hall?
It gets even more interesting if you're the event organiser
4. Aberdeen may be a little TOO far off the beaten track unfortunately for us.
5. It's appreciated bluejay
6. When we tried a thumpinator at the bash through 2 barefaced cabs the majority decided that we could hear a difference and not particularly for the better. It seemed to pull some of the "guts" out of the sound
7. Starting to get properly exciting now... When the band hit it big and we're on the road to becoming multi-multi millionaires* I'll try to make sure we can record here *we may not make > £5 (this is our income to date)
8.
That's an awesome idea... and I did not see it...
I got a bit inventive
9. I wonder if you could get away with using the same "species" of wood again and again. Macassar Ebony Ebony Pale Moon Ebony Does that still count as 1 wood?
10.
I will own up that I'm feeling very lucky, and a little bit humble, today. Sitting next to me in my study are three Fodera Monarchs, a Ritter Cora, an Alleva Coppolo RA & two pre-CBS Fender Jazzes (one of which isn't mine!). . . Luckily I have a good insurance policy that covers them all!!
Well sitting next to me is a programmer and a can of 7up Lovely collection
11.
FoderaS. . .
You mean they don't have a house EACH?
12.
Hmmmm, it doesnt get lower so much, in that the fundamental definitely stays the same, but it does get higher as it pops back up to the top of the sweep. Thats cool! Some very groovy/trippy/weird effects to be had with that. Can you reverse it so it always rises? The other one doesnt speed up for me, errrr what does that mean??
I meant to put that there is one that seems to get consistently faster but I can't remember its name. It was all part of Acoustics and PsychoAcoustics (my favourite module).
13. Shepard Tone Descending http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfJa3IC1txI Shepard Tone Ascending http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXlR4wH971g There's one that continuously seems to get faster and faster that works on the same principle
14. The one that will really mess with your head if you like psycho-acoustics is Shepard-tones. Now they're messed up!
15. One doesn't have a Fodera in a house, One has a house AROUND a Fodera
16.
Trouble is if you do that it stops sounding like a 'ray.
Take the 'ray pre and put it in a pedal. Change to a John East and ask for an additional clean output (or stereo output with one side clean), merge the two signals in a box with a blend and ultimate 'ray sound How's that?
17. Yeah exactly the same for me. I find the phone far more effective
18.
Hmm. I think a global competition is perhaps a bit too big. Maybe for the next competition you could offer a custom where you decide string count and model, but only applicable to those using Basschat
Much better Although it could be much more entertaining if the losers got to design it
19. Make one of those plastic basses
20. Mines covered for in a locked car too
21. Maple neck, black hardware... I think I'd go blue I prefer greenburst with darker fretboards
22. I just really want to say a big thankyou to everyone who has donated so far! You guys are great
