1. Erm... with the ACG it's a bit hard to explain... So.. like this
2. It sounds to me you need to go on a testing spree before you shell out for anything
3. I reckon Dr of the bass is probably messing with the UK numbers somewhat... what was he up to at last count? 60 summat?
4. I really need to try some Berg gear at some point but it is on the pricey side (not your sale, the gear in general).
5.
Another +1 for DV here. The Cambridge shop service was superb - the manager (Duncan) really knows how to keep a customer informed of everything. Will use them again for sure.
Duncan is cool It's always good when you're on first name terms
6. If you add it you could always add a killswitch to the J effectively restoring your sound
7.
Does the wenge body make it quite heavy? My Warwick Infinity is Zebrano, and weighs a ton, in spite of being chambered (and quite small-bodied)
Wenge is generally fairly weighty. I prefer a bubinga core and a wenge neck. nomnomnom
8.
interesting! If it were me i would have preferred it without the wenge top but that's me!
Wenge top?
9. I like it, a tad worried about neck dive but some good potential there. I can see it being a shape that would work well with a solid colour rather than fancy woods though. Go for a "classic look", get a pickguard on there, either solid colour or stain and you're on a winner IMHO. Looking forward to seeing the headstock on this too. Will there be a build diary?
10. I like that, I think it would benefit aesthetically from a little more aggressive contouring on the bottom horn though
11. I think it depends on whether you prefer the piano roll or score/tab to be fair. Each to their own, I quite like reason for drum editing though.
12.
Sounds like the Foo fighters all over again.
And it got them nowhere
13.
Well hey! Welcome the the world of the musician, where you sort of need to be a little bit competent.
Or a drummer
14. I preferred the old shape but hats off for the skills
15.
KingBollock, looks like you are spot on! I sent them a message asking, "are you sure?" Reply: "Hi there, thanks for the msg and really sorry about the confusion. We've had some stock problem and will adjust the price back to normal as soon as it's resolved. Many thanks and have a nice evening!"
Tell them you really wanted one though and had the grand waiting
16. You could always post it as a build diary? Everyone loves seeing a plan come together. Apart from Plan B... that would be gross
17. I liked the bit where qualifications were thrown in :-D Also the answer is ofcourse... 42
18.
See my post immediately above yours - doesn't that show clearly that clipping is flattening of the peak of the wave? And isn't a flat voltage waveform actually a direct voltage?
It's flat to the eye in that yes, but what about all the harmonics that are going to be generated. If you push pure DC at a cone it wouldn't technically create any sound IIRC
19.
If you're playing Gospel, get a 5 string bass, a 410 or 212 cab, a 500 watt amp with a good DI and some flight cases. I think your brain would be better off full of bass lessons than this other stuff!
Fair point
20.
Indeed. Maybe you should start with the standard curriculum of most electronics and electrical engineering degree courses )
I did electronics as part of my course and it never lined up with what you've said. You're basically coming across as comparing apples and pears, ok it's not apples and oranges but you should stick to apples
21. I couldn't get my head around it but basically he was able to tie the string back together but the knot would not cause any issues at all...
22.
I think Bassickman is gonna consider an electronics degree next just so he can follow this! Either that or he's gonna take up keys.
But then he needs to consider the Power Rating of the PA and/or a keyboard amp
