Lots of interesting and helpful looking vids here:
Looks like there's a problem with the video thanks for trying though
  3.
It`s worth persevering with MIMs. I picked one up 2nd hand last week for £350, and I can`t believe how good it is. I`ve done a review on here about it. Squiers are very good too. I had a CV Classic 60s Precision, and it was very good indeed.
Hehe I picked mine up NEW for that
  4. MIM P basses can be hit and miss but the ones that hit are fantastic, bear in mind that many stores only stock basses rather than care about them so they don't actually set them up nicely! Personally? I'd either keep looking for a MIM P or go second hand on here. Good luck
  5. This is a silly price, ridiculous, stupid infact... Someone buy!
  6.
Hi Sheldon, What in your view are the downsides, if any, to using fanned frets? Just to balance things from a discussion perspective.. BUt it would be a boring world if everyone liked the same stuff...
People focus too much on the fanned frets and not enough on what is generally an awesome bass

What a tiring weekend! All the vocals done for one song (Minimum 2 layers at any given point both perfectly in time with the other, no pops, little bit of sibilance). Also new takes on the bassline with a bass run that I am very happy with Loving ProTools already, now I've just got to remember some of the basic functionality... Anyone got any idea how I can easily cut a track in two? I've found I can highlight a small area and delete that for now but can't work out how to just split it exactly where I've got the line. Everything else has come naturally so far! The simple things eh?
  8. Welcome was only in Epping the other week
  9.
Yeah I told them everything I'd discovered. Ha, the sales kid said he could get everything fixed for me under the warranty until I explained that would cost a good bit more than I'd paid for the bass!
Should have let them get on with it
  10.
I've been struggling the last few months with my TC rig - it just didn't seem to produce anything I could appreciate - okay rehearsal room conditions and all that - (and my playing!!) but it didn't feel like I could get any sort of decent sound. Few weeks back bought a Yamaha 5er with modded EMG pick ups and in he recordings of last rehearsal, the bass seems so clear and articulate. How is that? Do pick certain ups match amps? I guess?
Interestingly enough the best sounding bass through my TC rig was Doods 7 string also EMG equipped. I really want to try a Dingwall super J through it though My ACG sounds pretty mean through it too though
My luthier is going to drop this off in a couple of weeks and I'll be fitting the headless steinberger neck, R trem and sustainer kit to it after its received some finishing. NZ beech body (have no idea what that will sound like), quilted redwood top and wenge veneer. I'll doing the finishing myself - probably an oil finish but have to see what is available in the stores where I live.
It's an interesting shape! Very hard to imagine what it's going to look like
  12. Hey Jude, in a pub that will get everyone singing along!
  13. Ha! That'll teach you iPhonists! There's NOT an app for that
  14.
Don't take this the wrong way, but it might be worth checking your ears if you've been playing loud for a long while. A lot of musos pick up on hearing problems because of 'deficiencies' in their tone
I was starting to think the same
  15.
We'd all spend a lot less money on amps if we learned how to ask guitarists to turn their bass down rather than looking to turn our own volume up.
We'd probably all sound better as a band too
  16.
But do you think Ed's cab reached him via magic, or is there a chance it got thrown onto a van, dropped onto a depot floor, picked up with a forklift (and possibly driven into!) dropped onto a conveyor belt, dropped into a truck, thrown out of a truck onto another another depot floor, chucked into a van, and finally delivered to his home, and at some point in the process it might have been hit so hard that a joint broke and started buzzing, despite being built tough enough to handle years of gigging abuse and packaged pretty damn thoroughly?!
nah
  17.
Would it be possible to stop going to the last unread post when tapping on the thread titles? This behaviour is inconsistent with the full site where clicking on the title takes you to the beginning of the thread. It's really annoying to have to scroll back to the top when I expected to get the start of the thread. The star/dot at the beginning of the thread title should perform this function, and a link referencing the last poster should take you to the end.
That's weird... I'm sure that's how it works on my phone!
  18. That's awesome customer service! But to play devils advocate the case of Ed_S's shouldn't have reached the customer in the first place. I agree that in the OPs situation to test for a fault that happened after time would be near impossible so fair play on that one
  19. You expect us to play in actual bands too? I thought basses we're just to play at home
  20.
So £250 isn't really a good price?
It probably is but the idea is that by heading to the door they get nervous and will take you a bit more seriously. It's happened to me before and I got called back and got my price rather than theirs. I don't know the actual value of the instrument but it's been sat there a while and they're happy to settle at £250 so why wouldn't they be happy to settle at £230 It's your call at the end of the day, just trying to get another £20 off for ya. Use the argument that it needs new strings and a full luthier setup. Use long words too. Tell them it's got bad intonation infact and it's going to take a bit of money to fix that too
  21. Tell them you'll give them the cash there and then for £230. If they say no... walk out. Come back after after 10 minutes and say you've changed your mind and will take it for £250?
  22. As per the photo competition that runs would anyone be interested in a soundscape competition? Each month the previous winner picks a picture or even short video for everyone to write too. The entries can be held up on soundcloud (I think it's possible to have a group on soundcloud isn't it?) and everyone can vote. Tracks no longer than (shall we say 2 minutes?) Just wondering if anyone would be interested really
