1. Cheers for that If I can help out a BC'er in the process though I will
2. Hey all, I've just got my filthy mitts on a copy of ProTools and now I need to get back into mixing To this end I'm looking for some victims. If any of you have some tracks that you would like mixing free of charge I am happy to do one track for free per member (first come first serve) just to get my experience back up. This is a limited time offer so get in quick. Once I'm comfortable with ProTools again I'll stop doing free mixing again, as even though I enjoy it... well you know Rik
3.
Shouldn't that be "How soon is now?" (for all Smiths fans)
I don't see what this has to do with American Dad
4.
How sad is it that these days I can't even afford to spend £35 on stuff I suppose it's for a good cause though, got confirmation for the wedding day this morning! September 4th 2014! Truckstop
Put it on the wedding present list?
5. Ah is this the way that Newtone do my drop C tuning without changing the gauge? Cheeky blighters

I unsure as to whether you missed the joke in that
Sibelius is my home turf. Love it.
Does Sibelius support tab then?

It arrives @ 3! Then I get to do the upgrade download, god only knows how big that will be :S
9. It depends on what you want: You've got the usual suspect : Barefaced The new kid on the block but looks bloody awesome : EAD and I'm fairly sure there's a couple of manufacturers too
That'sall good - while I've used Logic a lot I'm not a devout user unwilling to hear god things about other DAWs and obvously pretty much every studio tracking session I've ever done has been done with PT - and it sounds and works beautifully - BUT I still get great results with Logic so see no need to change. So I'm interested what makes Pro Tools simply the best ever and put so many other things in the shade? I've read quite a few PT Vs Logic articles online - just be interested to hear your opinion - I have nothing whatsoever against PT - I'd like it myself - I just can't see why I should switch over now... maybe another year. M
I actually really like logic (it was my goto for about 5 years) the second most usable DAW for me. From what I remember the biggest difference... usability. There are two screens (as opposed to logics... 9?). It HAS been a long time since I have used protools to be fair but logic was out of the question as unfortunately I do not have a mac. The plugins in protools generally seem of better quality too and the whole process of recording and editing a band was so much quicker (I recorded, edited and bounced a full 10 track album in 8 hours) I may well start a blog and put up an offer to mix a track for a few members to get back into it, it's been too long
11. Ha, kinda hard to argue with that! It just works for me I guess, when there's a need or I fancy it I'll teach myself :-)
12.
You find it so much easier because you haven't read music enough with your bass. Repositioning the tab is just another step that your mind is having to take to play whats written.
Kind of agree but conversely why take one more step than is needed?
13. Another thing worth doing is trying to find other interested people near you. Everyone does stuff differently and although you might not like their way you might pick something up
14.
This is one of the best posts I've read on this forum ....
This one is better.... Cheddar

Right! Just ordered Protools 9 with an MBOX (free upgrade to 10... the joys of a 15GB download!!!) Looks like they're about to go to a restructuring so if you're interested I'd get in now! Apparently soon they will be shipped with protools essential instead. DV are currently out of stock as are soundslive so I ended up using guitarguitar. I think they still have one more in stock. Kudos to both DV and Soundslive though as they attempted to move heaven and earth in order to help me!
16.
Ok, so avoid at all costs?
Personally I would say, go and try it yourself but if you want to sell it on be prepared to make a loss. Ideally go second hand on here and you'll get an awesome setup for your cash
17. Three points: 1. Great Story 2. What did you buy then? You surely didn't visit all those places without a single purchase? 3.
18. Hmm... difficult then really. After a jack of all trades then. As far as pickups go I'd give Wizard a phonecall and I'm sure they'd be able to recommend a pickup to suit. You need something with a very large tonal range for what you have described
19. Can you linky? I love my Newtones but I've always got my eye out for new stuff to try
20. Just out of interest, what type of music do you like to play and what sort of sound would you like to hear from your bass?
21. ACG or Shuker if you're willing to wait (and know what you want)

In order of everything I've tried. Reason, audacity, protools, logic, cubase, nuendo, ableton, sonar and reaper Nothing has matched Protools. Logic was closest but there was still a big gap
