1. I'll start with this: http://www.playawayguitars.com/play_away_guitars_shop.php?itemID=547
2. Right chaps, BRX keeps telling us about these cool quirky basses. Lets see if we can find a brand he doesn't already know about!
3.
But it's ripping off Trussart ripping off Fender.
I'm going to make it my mission to find a quirky bass brand you don't know about! In fact I'm going to dedicate a thread to it!
4. I am seriously struggling to find a venue in a reasonable price bracket. I have had an offer of a venue that is only really suitable for a bash but we could still put on bands to showcase to each other and get each others opinions perhaps? However it is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than the other options. I'll put this up as a poll and gather your opinions. Rik
5.
Alumisonic...
Agree unimaginitive but this still LOOKS pretty damn cool (sorry for skinny string content)
6.
The most important thing you can do as a band is acknowledge that your audience is present and play to them. I've lost count of the number of bands I've seen that appear to playing to themselves only and who struggle to project their "performance" beyond the edge of the stage.
Guilty! Working on it!
7. I think it depends what you're looking for. The singer and I are researching this quite a lot at the moment. Generic things we've picked up (although this is with metal). - Look confident, move with the music in general - Look at the crowd / look around - Adopt a wider stance than normal (was very odd to me too begin with but actually feel LESS of a pillock than before - Interact with the environment, rest on monitors etc - Interact with the rest of the band, move over to where the guitarist is playing, go rock out with the singer - Know when to blend into the background so that you're not all competing for attention at once - When walking across a stage (assuming your stage IS big enough to walk on) try to walk in time with the music Would love for others to add to this list
8. In my band we play with a programmed drummer, we simply havn't found a guy this is good enough and/or fits with the rest of us. Restrictive? yep Difficult? live at times definitely. The monitor mix has to be spot on or we're pretty much screwed. There have been times the drums have dropped out live and it's been upto me to keep the rhythm going and hoping it sorts out. Can it pay off? Yes! One particular gig (3 so far, testing the water and now we're sorting our weaknesses) the crowd went absolutely bloody beserk. One of the best nights out for me to date and people loved the drums and synths. It's what works for the situation, but playing to any kind of click really does need a lot of discipline.
9. Pink and green you say? Oh damn...
10.
Thanks dude, they are stunning sounding instruments. I was hoping to have some progress shots now but they seem to be playing hard to get ;-)
Well they're not going to show you any sneak peaks of the special paint job I slipped them a fiver to do for you are they?! I told them all about your love for Mr Blobby colour schemes
11. Looks pretty nice, anychance of getting a matching string tree?
12. Once I've moved and I'm able to get my monitors into a decent position for mixing then I'm getting protools again. It's just so intuitive
13. I'm curious, for most people who have moved over to reaper what did you use before? My first DAW was protools (loved it) Then logic (bit of work then loved it) Tried cubase (don't get on with it) Then reaper (find it too clunky) I'm wondering if most people who like reaper came from a cubase background?
14. You have great taste sir!

Damn, BC reformats keyboard art

17.
bunk beds and turn the lower one into a desk?
Genius!! Although drunkenly bringing a bird home could be interesting, oi! Get your foot off of my computer!
18. I'm just enjoying playing the upper strings so much on my 6 string that I really want an additional high string
19. I bought my amp and cabs second hand on here. I paid twice as much for the amp as I did for each cab. So total expenditure they match.
20. I played a super J5 and it was one of the best 4 basses I have ever played: Doods two Shukers My ACG Dingwall Super J5 Buy with confidence, these things bloody rock. Growly or polite (although for me I definitely preferred it in full on angry mode), I've only played a couple of Sadowsky and they were very nice, I preferred the J5 though. One day I will get a J5 with block inlays, maple neck and white paint and a black scratchplate. Saying that I think I will be giving Mr Shuker a shout for a 7 string first
21.
I'm thinking of getting a pick to gig a few set songs with. My amp is 500w at 4 ohms - if I were to go for a blue 2mm pick, will the amp run at full power?
How many Ohms is your pick?
22. I used to use a flanger on it and it sounded right to me.
