2.
Managed to get a quick recording just now using a field mic plugged into iMac as I haven't got a lead to connect to iMac just now, so excuse the hiss, crackle & lack of lower frequencies. But it gives you an idea. The basic sound is distortion, chorus & low pass filter (with an expression pedal) & then I add the octaver with 50% clean & 100% -1 octave. This should give you an idea of what this combination of effects can sound like & you could probably get very similar with a decent multi fx unit. I'm actually splitting things in the Bass Murf & only have distortion, chorus & LPF on the higher frequencies (Probably from @ 200 Hz) & using a bit of extra drive from the Murf on everything. The octaver is before everything & I did a couple of runs to show you the tracking issues (it tracks everything fine, right down to my messy mistakes ). Anyway, here it is... http://soundcloud.com/bassg/fears Add this to banjo & tin whistle & your audience are gonna be petrified!
Quite cool but not aggressive enough for me tbh.
 3.
There was a huge thread on talkbass about a pretty recent Lakland bass, and then more came out of the woodwork, which meant what I found wasn't me being mental. The bass pictures in question all had misaligned bridges/pups and some of the B/G strings were almost hanging off the board because of it.
That was here...
 4.
the most dull, boring and unimaginative guitar ever created
there must be something more dull but I simply can't think of it at the moment.
 5.
This is not a video...
I meant to put that in my post
 6. They should embed a tuner into the headstock of basses
 7.
No it's not ridiculous when you've heard of concert pianists who "practice" on the train sitting at a table which acts as a "dummy keyboard". I'm sure it would also guarantee you get all 4 seats to yourself
I also do that
 8.
I'll try not to be offended. FWIW, I thought there was something 'odd' about my RH450 and sold it way before any of this came to light.
Well it can't be for everyone can it
 9. I find if I can play it without a bass and without the music then I've learnt it. That probably sounds ridiculous but I genuinely try to learn sometimes without a bass in my hands. I know where the frets are in relation to my body so I can still "play" along as it were.
 10.
Yep cheers mate. I wasnt having a go, just seems that there are so many differing opinions floating about on these at the minute when before I didnt hear a bad word about them! And then you get this thread, combined with a few people moving them on... beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say. I tried yours with the ACG I believe and that was IMMENSE sounding... would it necessarily do the same with a stock Precision or Ricky? Must go and have a play soon.
With my MIM Pbass (1/4lbs and BAII) I get almost the same sound as with my ACG. It's a bit different but not much. Also with the added cab the sound has got even more IMMENSE There's so many tonal capabilities that I have to remind myself not to fiddle all the time.
 11.
Fellow trad metalhead I assume? Good to know I'm not the only one left on planet Earth
Dream Theater are my favourite band and Dave Ellefson is my favourite bassist
 12. Some people block out serial number so their pictures can't be used elsewhere like with car licence plates
 13. Well decision made on saturday and bought a.... Shure Super 55! Clear winner, the 55SH was VERY good but lacked the low end clarity and some of the frequencies at the top of my singers range were cut whereas these were very clear on the Super 55 Thanks for all the help guys. And huge Kudos to Digital Village for allowing us to test to our hearts extent
 14. I'm curious as to why they bothered with a tigerstripe ebony board....
 15.
Apparently it all goes downhill from 25 - I just tried noiseaddicts and could hear 14khz but not 15khz. I'm 47. http://www.noiseaddi...s-hearing-test/
I can hear the 22Khz on there quite clearly. Interestingly I can hear it clearer than the 20kHz.... does that make me thpeshal?
 16. After 17k speakers and headphones may not reproduce properly. Last time I checked it was still great for me but I have to admit to sometimes struggling making out words with some people in noisy environments.
So, I went to @Bristol in ... Bristol. They have an exhibit with headphones and a knob which you can turn to change the frequency of a tone into the headphones. I found I could hear up to 13100 Hz. Anything above that ... nothing. Seems very low, even for my 32 year old ears! That explains why my RH450 treble control doesn't seem to raise the treble
The RH450 doesn't go anywhere near 13kHz iirc mate I think it tops out at 6kHz
 17.
I miss my turquoise Yamaha RBXJM1. I only sold it because of a major GAS attack and I wish I'd have thought about it for a few more days. I reckon I would have kept hold of it. It really was a special instrument and I simply didnt appreciate it as much as I should have done Truckstop
Mines all cleaned up now with fresh strings on it and I can safely say it's going nowhere anytime soon
 18. Dude! Saw you guys playing when I went to see the music. Great gig, really enjoyed the tunes and you have a great bass tone Shame your not doing any gigs nearer my area. Let me know if you hit anywhere near Cambridgeshire I know a bunch of people who would really enjoy this kind of gig. To all BC'ers, I highly recommend seeing this band
 19. I'm starting to wonder if we have different definitions of "low-mid kick" here
Hmm, surprised by this thread. Charic's rig is the first rig ive been properly impressed with for ages, yet not getting a lot of love here? Considering buying a TC setup but now... Hmmm... Need to go and try one again first... Particularly IVO the outlay
That's not surprising considering the elapsed time and the write-ups of late mate. Feel free to give me a shout if ever you're in the area
 20.
My TC Classic 450 was plenty loud enough going through my BC212 - I never had it much above halfway on the master. I just really didn't get on with the sound of it. It just didn't have any low mid 'grunt' if you know what I mean.
Really?! How odd...
 21.
Peace Sells... But Who's Buying
Good pick! Was my third ever bassline... tuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuune
 22. I'd love to be able to play properly. Simply put though I prefer playing bass so whenever I struggle to play guitar I generally get annoyed because I've not put the time in and consequently put it down again. Vicious circle really. When I can play like petrucci and can warrant one of his guitars I'll be a happy bunny
 23.
Oh crikey... I've just been talking about 500K's worth of pot...
I'm quite interested in why you decided that 25K's worth simply wouldn't do!
 24.
Oh crikey... I've just been talking about 500K's worth of pot...
Genuine
