1. The BC store is your best friend then there's some real bargains to be found in there! Fender Jag in your price range Warwick Corvette too! (Although shipping is an issue IIRC)
2. I'll drop you another PM, see if you can reply to that?
3. The actual name for the colour should be "beforethesmokingbanglo"
4.
Would lemon curd work as well?
Try it and post pictures? Failing that, how about jam? Perhaps marmalade?
5.
I think you should get out there and try literally as many pedals as possible. I use the mxr m80 and i use it for pretty high gain stuff, its a touch hissy but as long as you dont have a tweeter in your amp its not too much of a bother. Also use the obd3 and together they give a pretty fat, humongous sound! Go out there and just try lots, its hard to rely on opinions just from a forum.
Yeah I know Unfortunately carting my bass and my amp/cabs down to shops and not knowing what to try seems a little silly. So I thought I would give here a go first SERIOUSLY considering the Zoom B9.1ut... we'll see how things are looking on payday
6. I have no intentions at all my guitarist uploaded a vid and I wanted an excuse to share it
7. Any of your band mates uploaded a youtube vid or soundcloud track that your proud of or just makes you smile? Here's my guitarist http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vw6KRm5gXYs&context=C3c125b0ADOEgsToPDskK7eV6byizHKowo5kcF8JeN
8. Beautiful bass that! Shame they don't do a 6 string of it
9. There's this little beastie available at the moment, I can't speak for quality as I've never tried one but it definitely looks the part if you're gassing for a Jazz! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/64519-buscanti-newport-serial-7014-new-lowered-price-l615/page__pid__635861#entry635861
10. Sue Ryder.... Definitely! [sub]ok... probably not[/sub]
11. That's pretty f'ing epic! You have 3 arms!
12. Turns out you're only allowed to use their strings for rock and roll... good marketing that
13. If you just want a new toy to inspire you to play more then how about something like a line6 basspodxt? Then you can plug it into speakers or headphones and not worry about being "annoying". It is also worth asking yourself if you would be better off paying for a good bass tutor (if you pick one off of basschat you're almost definitely in good hands). A good teacher will help you increase your technique, inspire you and improve your confidence. Then later on you can play loud through an awesome amp
14. Petrucci has been going since 85 does that count?
15. Monies are still scarce from Xmas I expect, I've played this bass. Very BIG sounding when it wants to be
16. Just edited to make this all manageable
17. Difficult one for me... I honestly don't know! The lines aren't easy but can be picked up with a little time. It would get more interesting when it came to personalities. A year ago (probably less) I didn't know them, now I would count them easily as my best mates. We've backed off from auditioning more people purely for the reason of "they might be great" but would they fit in? The our personalities are so similar but not irritatingly so is quite disconcerting tbh!
18. My guitarist is swearing by steven slate drums at the moment. We use it live as well and it's got a pretty good sound I have to say! http://stevenslatedrums.com/
19. 2:40 onwards of Megadeths "Wake up dead" always end up nodding along, absolutely love that groove and so unexpected
20. Could have been you at 2:40 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBCSMjHJAvg
21.
A multi FX unit would be a cheapish & effective way to experiment & get an idea of what you're after & then if you decide you want seperate pedals, you have an idea of what you want. I was playing with my board this morning & got a huge sound by putting the octaver on clean & 1 oct lower then splitting the signal in the bass murf & putting all the lows into a chorus & everything else went into a distortion pedal & then into the low pass filter with quite a but of resonance. Getting some very scary lows & opening the filter makes it go Raaargh!
I have no idea why but this post put a huge grin on my face! Thanks
22.
Do you think I should post it on Rick Resource?
If you do then please PLEASE link!
23.
Is that car park OK inside or is it really narrow and difficult with a [s]wide and long ca[/s] Pimpmobile?
Fixed
24. Write a new riff, something a bit rockier and allow the band to write around that. Make sure the first time they hear it is with pedals too. Then hopefully they'll open up to new and interesting sounds
