1. Also might be worth chucking matamp into the mix aswell. Seem to get great reviews (not tried one myself... yet)
 2. Newtone can make you some strings which will cope with downtuning quite nicely. Although it may be worth playing around with an octaver
 3. Bah! No option for black with green embroidery
 4. I usually prefer buckeye which is more of the light with dark accents but have to agree that's going to look great!
 5. Line6 basspodxt headphones or monitors
 6. I used to dial it in on the inbuilt effects on my line6 amp. Only bassline the Mrs regularly requested lol
 7. I might not be... my girlfriend has nearly finished uni there. If you hit Cambridgeshire anytime hopefully I'll be able to make it
 8. No idea what the current exchange rate is in squirrels although it might be more ethical to use chavs
 9.
maybe thats why you havent been asked yet!
Perhaps, although two bands is enough for me at once tbh
I don't understand why you are so proud of this!
I don't think it's a case of being proud of it. If they said we'd like a sound more like "x" to work with the band and possibly something that looks a little more like "x", "y" or "z" then I would be much more inclined as they are involving me in the decision making process for the instrument I have to play. I just don't like the idea of "play this or else". Honestly though I play music for fun and stress relief, not on a professional basis so feel free to disregard it based on that.
Don't think I can agree with you on this - sometimes there's a reason. I depped for a Northern Soul band before Xmas and they made it very clear up-front that they absolutely wanted the Duck Dunn vibe to my kit - I had to play a Precision. I could see exactly where they were coming from, and I had no problem with playing a P in a soul band.
But were you given a choice in the matter?
 10.
Trust me you would not want to turn this gig down
I think you underestimate me... as soon as anyone turned round and said I HAD to play a certain bass or I'm out then they can swivel (short of Dream Theater or other epic band)
 11.
If they are demanding a T-bird, they are probably not after a 'bright crunchy' sound tbh. How about making some cardboard wings to fit over your Jaydee?
I don't think they care about the sound tbf
 12. I would honestly tell them where to stick it I'm afraid. Failing that, get a preamp and eq and boost the signal before the amp
 13.
You've just given me a truly horrible idea of how to get me some more basses...
The next acg going to be Auntie, Cousin, Gran?
 14. Fair enough, incidentally... how does one steer a bum? Tennants extra strong, a stick and some string?
 15.
Lol. My gran funded the last Roscoe. I'm thinking 3 kittens should cover the outstanding owed on this one...
16.
I think he means me. Officially this would be my 6th bass build... Certainly something thats cost lots of money - though each one has sold to fund other musical equipment that is still used (My effects rig costs the same as boutique bass, as does my amp and cab). Any pennies I once had for such toys and squander is long gone and swallowed up by life. If I want something new now, other things have to be sacrificed...
Yeah I know, I was saying you're having one bass (ok, it's a final solution not a total count) Which member of the band is being sacrificed first?
 17.
Struggling to see why you need to be able to play and instrument let alone to a grade 8 standard for a Engineering course. Some of the best engineers i've worked with don't play a note, they're passionate about sound & how to make it sound great, not how to play the stuff.
It sounds like a course made up of mixed modules, all very odd indeed
 18. Ha I could join that 4x10 to my 2 rs210's and hook it up to my rh450
 19.
TBH I can take or leave the Roscoe and Moog - Krispy Kreme is what it's all about!
Liar lxx, welcome to Basschat. You have the same bass as my first
 20.
EMG Pickups. Originally priced at £900+ !! 21.
Maybe so, but no where near as many builds......
How's 1 more than 2?
 22. Ah crap, I arrive in Liverpool on the Friday!! Good luck with the gig!
 23.
^ This! I was just reading to the end of the page to leave you with this reply but Charic beat me to it!
24.
Simply refering to the realisation that I'm too old to make judgements on what type of amp tones define metal after listening to your band. Its not a genre I follow so maybe should have not suggested anything. I was purely going on budget / price. To me, 100 /120 watt heads can "do" metal. I'm not enough of an expert to discern the different amps required for certain types of music
Ah I see, it was still a useful post as I realised something that wouldn't really suit so thanks
 25. Sell your favourite bass to me for £10, I'll then promptly sell it back for £10. Then you have £190 to upgrade it
