1. Shame you don't have a sunburst dingwall

svt classic
Don't really agree with that. Don't personally like svt's that much but thats maybe because i've had to service some of them
Lol @ my dirty mind
3.
Thats why i recommended SSR. My mate up here for his training keeps getting his mates bands in when he's doing studio modules and working with them as a bit of a practice, and is doing the same at the moment in their venue as he's on a live sound module. Liam
Yeah, of course it's worth whatever you put in (your post wasn't present at time of typing)
4. I suppose it depends what you actually WANT to do? At the time when I went to uni to do Audio and Music Tech Anglia Ruskin (cambridge) was apparently one of the best for it, with the added perk of getting a BSc instead of a BA. Big difference was it was VERY heavily based in science (acoustics, psycho-acoustics, Analog and Digital electronics, digital signal processing etc...) as well as the usual "record and mix music". I will honestly tell you that I don't feel I learned a great deal about how to record or mix music. It may not be the same case for you but it is quite possible and worth bearing in mind with the extortionate rates uni's are charging at the moment. Also a degree stands for nothing in the sound engineer world, it's all about experience so get out there and do it really. Best of luck and if you have any more questions feel free to ask here or via PM Rik
5. I'm looking forward to seeing the outcome of that visit
6. Once.... My first gig JJ Burnell was in the audience (was on stage later that night) and actually complimented my playing. I had been playing 4 weeks
7. So if you were offered 10x your current wage for the same job you'd turn it down because it wouldn't be fair? Why should luthiers turn away money? They've got lives to lead too and sometimes upping the price a bit would reduce the number of orders so that they can actually keep up with the order book.
8. My band is Melodic Death Metal (or so I'm told, I'm rubbish with genres) I listen to mostly metal and heavy rock
9. Fair enough I need some magic funds to appear for my 6 or 7 string Shuker and my SuperJ5
10. Are you sure it's not the pickups? If the signal isn't reaching the Pre then changing it won't make any difference.
11. But how do you know that Dingwall isn't your new fender or musicman? Have you tried a SuperP or SuperJ? I was VERY skeptical and I have to admit they are right at the top of my GAS list these days
12.
A bit of shameless self-promotion. Some of you might remember a mid-1990s band from Bristol called Monk & Canatella. The singer, Jim Johnston, is releasing his first solo album on 6th of February. The album is called "Voyage of Oblivion" and could be described as indie-rock with psychedelic and folk tinges. It's really good. I produced it, and I played bass on it. But it was good even before I got involved. I decided to get involved because I heard Jim's songs and I thought that they were really brilliant. You can check out the website here: http://jimjohnstonmusic.com/ We'll be on tour in February. The dates are: 11th Feb: Bristol (Album launch party/gig) 15th Feb: Cardiff 16th Feb: Birmingham 17th Feb: London 18th Feb: Brighton The actual venue details are on here: http://www.songkick....27-jim-johnston I'm hoping to see some basschatters at some of the gigs. And if do you, come say "hi". Cheers. - martin
Nice of you to suggest the conversation for us Good luck with the tour!
13.
Don't get me wrong, as I've said, these style of basses are growing on me. I just can't see myself having 7 or so normal 34" 4 or 5 string basses, and one Dingwall with a different scale, different fret system, etc.I'd have to spend a good few hours on one before making a decision. It is very much a niche market, which is growing rapidly by the looks of things.
You're quite right... You'll be selling those other basses in no time
14. Save for the speakers too to make the complete setup. Line6 really are clever chaps
15. Makes it easier to show the guitarist riffs
16.
Great product but daft price. £109 for a high pass filter ffs? You could do the same job with a half decent P.A cross over for half the price. OK not as small and portable but still..
Talking about the SFX pedal? Yeah I've thought the prices were a bit steep myself, they do look like great quality though.
17. If you're only starting out get something small for home use only Line6 Studio 110 Roland Cube Ashdown Perfect 10 or 15 (they're a series) Honestly I think you're better off with an amp designed for Bass rather than a jack of all trades.
18.
There's stuff going up in the diaries that was listed (ordered??) way after mine and has arrived, guess mine are extra special, either that or I did something wrong in a previous life!
Might be some of the parts or number of layers of paint etc? Assume he's spending the extra time making it EVEN better
19. For a bass shop in London head over to the Bass Gallery. Be prepared to stay a while though (the GF had to put up with me being in there approx. 2 hours ) Also if in london there's the london dungeons etc to find out just how nice we Brits really are
20. Seems bloody impressive to me. Instant GAS :S http://www.dv247.com/studio-equipment/line-6-stagescape-m20d-smart-digital-mixing-system--93949
21. Subscribed! One day I'll be doing this myself (need a house first ) and I've got a few nifty ideas to go along with it
