1. Ah it was this! [sharedmedia=core:attachments:94333] but it had disappeared! Oh well! It's back now. I still need to try a Matamp sometime
 2. You could do like I did and make it so everyone likes your post (check top right of my sig )
 3. I thought you didn't get on with the 37" scale?
 4. Another thought, you might not need a great deal of strength in your fretting hand but commonly professional bassists and guitarists have fairly defined forearms. So surely ANY form of exercise for the forearms can't be a bad thing... At least that's what I tell the mrs
 5.
Top pic with 2 PU's in white- Put me down for one!
A man of taste I see
 6. IMO if you train your hand to be able to fret hard with minimal effort then you can fret softly with even less. Change the routine and you can make it for endurance set it to a light to but say you have to grip it to a metronome of ever increasing speed. Do one finger at a time and increase speed in between and you increase the agility. Any tool you use for training is only as good as the exercises you can think up. All imo etc etc..
 7.
the thing that looked odd to me was the back bit of the scratch plate. My two pence.....
Yeah, I agree this sits much better. Exactly what I was trying to get across
 8. If you want to add to the relic'ing get yourself a studded wristband and shred for a few hours with a pick
 9. Try it and see, if you prefer it and have the money... well you work out the rest
 10.
These?
The top one of the two just compliments it all so well I'll have it in the brightest white you can find with a blank plate maple fretboard and black blocks please Do you have change for £100?
 11.
The downside is that you have to forget most of what you knew about chords (which is a big deal for a lot of guitarists).
That wont take long... ... .. . Done

 13. I don't mind it but the Thunderbird sketches looked better IMO, complimented the styling more. The could try adding a little bit of a slant to the scratchplate to point out the angles a bit as well. As for saying the Dingwalls come across sterile, that is a very different experience to what I had! The SJ5 has a huge amount of balls to it and seemed to me to actually be quite comparable but preferable to a Stingray 5. I've not had a chance to try any of their other basses but first chance I get I will
 14. Should have told them to do it for you
 15. Can you not return it? Or claim on warranty? If you've just received it then I'd try those first. Otherwise contact line6 themselves, IIRC their customer service isn't too bad.
 16. Drop Newtone strings a line and they'll make you a custom set My string are from .110's and I'm tuned CGCF so they should be able to accommodate you just fine, I just told them the gauges I want, the tuning and the scale length and they altered the core accordingly
 17.
You need something like this :-) http://www.seymourdu...ad.php?t=199987
When I have my own music room I might make a wall to look like this! I could actually put stuff in them though... oooooo project!!!
 18.
IMO the OP is being a little over-sensitive. I can also see where noel27k is coming from. I personally find it rather disappointing, that an otherwise interesting bass manufacturer like Dingwall feel that it is necessary to "dress up" their ideas in the rather dull and unimaginative J and P clone guises.
The thing is, Fender clones sell and that surely has to come first. I love their original stuff too but the moment I picked up the Super J5 it just felt perfect, even my girlfriend commented on it! Sometimes the unfortunate truth of it is originality and sales don't go hand in hand.
 19.
This bass is not yet in production and only a prototype which is meant to be sent to Dave Swift for approval to see if he likes it or not. It has a John East Retro-P preamp more details to follow once Sheldon feels it's ok to publish these. Infact the main reason I have taken it down, was that after it was posted on the Dingwall forum, the post from Sheldon with the pic and the description disappeared, as a result I thought it better to remove it from here in case it would upset Sheldon Dingwall. So unless he makes it public himself I have no rights to do so. I have lots of respect for him and I don't want to interfere with his intentions.
Good man I've had a bit of banter with Sheldon on here and he seems a really sound guy I'm still looking forward to the TBird!
 20.
Doesn't sound like you were both suited..so best to part. Put all your energies into getting the other band going well. I always find bands quite competitive, even if they try and say otherwise, so you could invite them to support your band...as long as you don't get blown away..!!! Onward and upward and always make your next band better than the last
They play indie, we play music which is being regularly compared to Amon Amarth and Arch Enemy
 21.
Yeah, I've been there with a band too. They said I wasn't good enough when infact I refused to play the old guys parts because A: They were boring and B: They were never tabbed as promised. I'm now inviting them to every gig I play, they're still not turning up despite being fans of the style of music. AFAIK they've done one gig since to date and I was bandless for 3 months! Move on and keep busy Just to add this is brilliant! If only there was a 'like' button
Sod it, I've added my own tribute to the Like button
 22. I'd probably put pro steels on. Do you want a sharpish top end?
 23.
You didn't miss out on anything special - another Precision bass body rip-off, just with the as expected varying string length's Dingwall approach. Designed by someone with zero original thought.
Well your not a fan obviously but Dingwalls are some of the best basses I've ever played. One day I'll get a Super J5! What a SOUND!
 24. Yeah, I've been there with a band too. They said I wasn't good enough when infact I refused to play the old guys parts because A: They were boring and B: They were never tabbed as promised. Move on and keep busy
There's nothing worse than this kind of pressure* from people who are stupid enough to think they can somehow turn you into someone you're not for their own purposes. It's control freakery, I tell you! Glad you're not too bothered. Good luck. * Apart from being electrocuted in the scrotum, obviously.
Just to add this is brilliant!
