1. You had an ampeg fridge and you didn't solve the going down a flight of stairs problem?! I've never owned one but it's obvious. You ride it down like a sled ... It's getting it back up that's the issue (ooer)
2.
I've got a pair of these, and they are very comfortable. They don't fit in my gig bag though.
Yeah they're a little bit big
3.
Numerous variables notwithstanding, why not just play to the strengths of each bass? Use the one that sounds best through a rig out in a band scenario for live work. Use the one that sounds better recorded for studio work. At least that justifies having two basses...
Four basses you forgot the backups
4. The Earthworks stuff is fantastic on drums. Unfortunately the only time I recorded a double bass I only had one mic to hand so didn't get to experiment much. However the Neumann TLM103 I used sounded fantastic.
5. I would go for the Ampeg without even thinking about it, aslong as you can drive it sufficiently. If your getting it at half retail your not going to make much of a loss selling it on if it doesn't work out.
6.
The difference is that Mr Hill has Papal dispensation to tote 'exotic' instruments. Rather than Explorers (perf. acceptable, IMO) I was thinking more of this sort of thing: BC Rich Draco. Not pointy at all.
That is AWESOME!!! I don't even know why, I think it's the kid in me
7. Just insure it first for piece of mind
8. Damn it's disappeared from the post
9. That's horrible news. Maybe we should start a "Companies To Avoid" thread and be stickied. Like a wall of shame
10.
Ewwwww
That was my first though too!
11. Just a though Darren, If you want to cut the file size down (if that is the problem with uploading) then you could try converting it to .csv or a tab delimited text file. Sometimes even just enclosing it in a .zip folder can solve upload problems
12. Very weird pedal, I can see it being a little bit difficult to get it to cut through a mix though.
13. Just remembered this thread! These are the ones I used before I think: http://www.dv247.com/headphones/beyerdynamic-dt-100-studio-headphones-grey-400-ohm--5010 Bloody fantastic for mixing and general listening alike. Should be great for practicing bass too! Bear in mind these are studio style headphones (monitors for your ears) and are likely to show up any flaw that you give it a chance to see. They're comfy too and won't fall off of your head if you getting bobbing.
14. Mackie make great, very sturdy gear. Excellent directionality too, great for if your worried about feedback and would probably make a pretty good monitor too. Buy with confidence
15. Anyone have any ideas of whats coming? I recieved this email today:
We have to admit this newsletter is a bit of a teaser. We have some news about a great new line of basses and an amazing offer coming up later this week. We've promised to keep it under wraps for a few more days, so watch this space!
Gits
16.
moving one in the tim domain
Tim! [sharedmedia=core:attachments:89285]
17. Aw man, I've always wanted one of these. I'm a sucker for delay. Unfortunately with xmas looming funds are tight. Have a free bump
18. I find it entertaining that you rarely hear the word Ampeg muttered these days! What's going on!
19. Purchasing second hand is definitely your best option in that budget range. Can you drive? If something pops up that you really like then if possible you should try it out before buying it. I love my MIM P bass it's an absolute beast but it might not be for you.
20. Hmmm, I'm not sure that scratchplate matches up. I'm probably wrong though!
