1.
Beginning to wish I hadn`t asked - so embarrassed.
Shouldn't be embarrassed at all. It could be a number of factors: Dead Strings Pickup Height Uneven String Height (Bridge) And something which hasn't been mentioned yet, EQ. You may have an issue if you have the tone all the way down. I have never used my precision except for Vol/Tone both on Full. Your playing technique may be a contributing factor but a simple test would to play one string open then mute it. Followed by the next string at the same strength and mute. Wash, Rinse and repeat. If they don't sound even it is VERY unlikely to be down to you. Finally, if you can't get an even sound out of it take it to a luthier before splashing out on pickups. Don't ever be embarrassed for asking a question though
2. I'm from a keyboard background. Quite a few people say that reading notation makes more sense when you can apply it to something as visually distinctive as a keyboard. Plus having the basics of another instrument under your belt can never hurt For what it's worth I can sight read on keyboard but have never felt the need to sight read any more than rhythm on bass.
3.
Hm, why have a two-tier membership? I suppose you're entitled to have and express an opinion whether you've been a member for a month or several years, and if you're a dickhead, it probably doesn't make any difference to your behaviour how long you've been posting on the forum.
I can just see it being a way of becoming an anonymous troll tbh
4. Actually another interesting thought, should new people be allowed to + or - until they have posted a certain amount of posts?
5. Welcome to the forum I honestly thought someone had joined the forum just to have a go about my band for a moment there
6. Have factored in cost vs quality? IIRC Sei's generally fall in fairly pricey even in comparison to other very high spec / luthier Jazz Basses. It may be worth checking other luthier options before pulling the trigger.
7. How long have you been at it for with the new setup? I think if the drummer gave the new guitarist a reasonable chance (assuming it's not been long) and got over it a little bit then maybe it could work. It just sounds a little disfunctional at the moment. I wouldn't give up quite so quickly tbh.
8. I don't currently take a spare, always have spare strings handy though. It's because my 3 basses are strung: CGCF EADG BEADGC
9.
I'd rather have the 'like' button than these here arrows.
Better colours could be picked actually. BC Orange for good BC black for bad Would blend in much better
10.
Can I suggest that you take this reputation marking system off of the For Sale section, in the same way there should be not 3rd party negative comments about items for sale, just wonder whether this system could wrongly predudice sale items?
That is a BLOODY good point
11. Ha! tBBC with this system would've been interesting! Now we just need a non-committal button which makes absolutely no difference to peoples ranking amber should suit nicely. One thing I have noticed is they're quite difficult to hit accurately on a mobile and I nearly hit one when just scrolling a page. Just something to think about really.
12.
I once forgot to a bring a lead to the gig and ended up having to use the keyboard players patch lead. It was about 3 inches long. I felt very silly.
Id love to see that
13. All the Sei's I've played have played really well but the sound just doesn't do it for me
14. The bongo is quite a pretty bass but the I've got odd taste, I always liked the warwick katana
15.
This poll really needs a "Don't Know". I really don't know how long my cables are and I want share this important information with you. Or maybe "All different lengths".
I've added Don't know and the option for multiple lengths to be added
16.
http://www.metacafe....tap_stonehenge/
I don't even have to open the link huge spinaltap fan
