Almost forgot! Bastards!
-
Unfortunate! Hopefully they'll get their cummupance! The kilo seems the obvious choice as a replacement I guess

What was your most embarrassing moment at a gig?
charic replied to duncbassgit's topic in General Discussion
nothing embarrasing as such, but once at a gig I held aloft my bass in mighty rock pose, and was then covered in polysterene from the roof tiles in the low ceiling I had just put the bass through.
I done similar at a bowling alley once... -
I always preferred the bassline to time is running out tbh

Only one thing to add that hasn't already been mentioned. Good strings make the world of difference. As your starting out I suggest that each time you change your strings you try a different brand. Heavier gauges tend to have more "authority" but are generally speaking harder to play. A friend when I started out told me this so I decided to start on the hardest possible strings possible. Also get your bass to a luthier for a good n proper set-up

Thanks Dave, Where do you call the real north and do you know of any good venues for the style? We plan on branching out once we have a slightly larger set (should be by summer next year) and are considering a week on the road

Yay! Thanks EU! More songs will be available shortly. I believe divine misanthropy will be the next one available for streaming. Did you manage to sell the 'wick in the end?

If it helps I'm just using my guitarists description. It's actually what he usually calls melodic death metal but when i wrote the topic I was abroad and on my mobile. Having heard him call it melodeath metal I used that. I'm actually incredibly ignorant to genre titles tbh. To most people I just say I play metal then list a few of our influences :-)

My band have put up the current mix of Autumn Leaves as a free download on facebook and reverbnation (links below). I thought I'd let all you fine fellows (and fellowettes) of BC know. Also any comments on the mix are welcomed although it isn't mastered yet
-
Thanks Gust0o it's appreciated if you know of any good venues your way then maybe we'll pop over sometime
-
Not a bad thought although if the last engineer had just listened to us then we would have been ok, he just kinda played the WHOLE band quiet. It's in the past now though and the band is more driven and closer than ever before. Also with a VERY exciting a different gig in the planning process. It's going to Mahoooosive! (By my standards, not exactly wembley arena but almost as cool )

There's now a free download available Follow the links below if interested.

Well the second gig had all the makings of absolute hell. Halloween gig in a snooker club and the organiser is much better at the promoting side of things and not so hot on the organising side of things. All fair enough tbh. Sound Engineers dropped out last minute, so I stepped up (having previous experience). It was in the downstairs of a snooker club, not a huge room, walls were practically mdf, laminate wood floor and low ceiling. Potential feedback hell. Skytronic microphones supplied by PA company (yay...) mackie SRM450's for the PA (not bad at all). First up, three dead cables and no replacements. Luckily I bring some with me just in case. Our band were meant to be 3rd on and I was told another band were on 1st. Talking to that band they were told it was the other way round. Some rather stern words later and we're on 2nd, fine by us. I move the speakers to where I thing they are best placed to avoid feedback, Guitarist from another band "you don't want them there it looks crap" Me "If you move it it'll feedback at this level" Guitarist "No it wont I know music tech" Me *smugly watching PA weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Me "Put it back please" Get to the last band to go on, half of them are missing as they have gone for chips, they get back and wont soundcheck because they're eating their chips. Finally I drag them away from their food. Gutiarist "Right what cabs are we using?" Me "You should have organised that yourself" Guitarist "It said on the event page on FB that the cab would be supplied" Me "Go and talk to this guitarist then, his got the biggest cab and would probably be the safest bet" Guitarist "Where is he" Me "Dunno" Guitarist "Go find him then" Me "Your on in 10 minutes with or without a soundcheck I suggest you find him quickly" Soundcheck is done quickly after and they start on time. Set goes well although the crowd were a little disinterested. We come on somewhat skeptical after the response to the first band with the levels all set by myself and quite happy that we're going to be loud enough and sound good. Quarter of the way through the first tracks and the room packs out and everyone is jumping and moving around. No/Little moshing but that suits me down to the ground as jumping always seems more "I like this band" than moshing. We really get into it and 20ish minutes later we walk off well and truly knackered. Compliments left right and centre. Next band came on and around half the punters left once they started playing (in all fairness they are quite a lot heavier than us and is probably a little more of an acquired taste, although they played really well) my guitarist and singer manged to get a few people moving around and moshing but there was no real "honesty to it". Same story then pretty much applied to the last band of the night. Needless to say I'm well chuffed! Can't wait for the next gig and we've got some fairly spectacular offers coming in (one particular idea has me really excited as it will definately be the coolest gig I have ever played!). Thought I'd let you guys know that we no longer seem quite as doomed as before anyway! And also vent about certain members of other bands! Rik
Just before my solo spot in a song the back of my Warwick came off ( it was gaffa taped shut) and all the electronics and batteries fell out over the floor. When I should have been playing I was crawling around looking for batteries. I was 16 hahah
That could be interesting to see! -

I took this compilations from similar forum in my country, some guy made them few years ago.
I recognise a fair few of those and MOST aren't that ugly. They've definately not all been made by one person though as I'm sure some were in BRX's different basses thread -
Call me picky, but I've never seen the appeal of the Pedulla thing. Looks like the top horn will snap off first chance it gets. It's got a really big bottom end too... Granted, it's not as outlandish/fugly as others on here, but it's still pretty offensive.
Fantastic finish but yeah I never liked that shape either -
This halloween, when people see you in fancy dress costume and say "you look great", simply replace "great" with "a ****", for a more honest appraisal of your appearance.
Will do tonight (usually do anyway)!

Or an actual glow in the dark bass "GlowGlo" Or a colour change bass "SometimesPurpleSometimesGreenGlo" Catchy huh?!
-
It was the glo part that confuses me
-
it IS a shame, coz the 7 PRO IS an AWESOME amp. I've not had a prob with mine(a rev-c) & I've done about 25 gigs ranging from corporate, full PA back up, to using our own PA at both LOUD outdoor ones (no PA for bass) & quiet jazz/blues gigs. It's not done anything untoward. All these reports DO make me a li'l nervous about it, but, honestly, it's performed superbly. Has a 3 yr warranty (I think it's 3 yrs-must check my receipt) anyway. It seems they 'show their colours' early on anyway. So, hopefully mines a good 'un.
The internet equivalent of nener nener

Why's it jet"glo" though? That's what I don't understand!!
-
Does the blueburst have a name? I assume it ends in glo?
