1.
It was simply a matter of size (so the wife says) Boot is large but opening very narrow
Single dodgiest quote on BC? Possibly!
2. I expect these would probably give you better value for money from my personal viewpoint on peavey amps: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/155719-ampeg-b100r-rocket-bass-l200/ - £200 http://basschat.co.uk/topic/157114-ampeg-ba-115-100w-l150/ - £150 http://basschat.co.uk/topic/157487-ampeg-ba115-bass-combo-wcustom-fit-cover/ -£200 Ampeg stuff really rocks, keep an eye out for line6 aswell. Great equipment that goes dirt cheap 2nd hand. I wouldn't advise buying new when deals like this are around!
3.
It's a risky business with sharp, pointy basses. Looks like she's only a couple of inches away from a nasty gash there!
10 points!
4. Courtesy is never a bad start and could leave the other band remembering you being good to deal with. Your obviously organised and polite, keep it up.
5.
Personal opinion - text looks like MS Word Art. I'd simplify it but then again - at least you're doing something whereas I am sitting on my arse! Best of luck!
Ouchies! Taken on board and appreciated though. Fingers x'd it's personal preference (although I wouldn't mind that job at microsoft )
6. The 967 looks like a very good mic I'll send on the link to Tom!
7. Hey all, I've been with my band for a fair while now and we're now away and gigging as it were. Although we're not looking to organise any more gigs until the next one is done just so we can have a sit back and think things through. I've just finished updating the band logo and adding merchandise to our store on reverbnation and would love to get your opinions on it all http://www.reverbnation.com/cerberuscell
8. Thanks! I'll add that to the list
9. Don't forget there is a lot of adjustment in the tone of the RH450. You do have to spend a fair while working at it though No doubt it's not for everyone but you'll be surprised what an hour of EQ'ing can do . I doubt I'll have to change my EQ for a VERY long time
10. Later on we'll probably look at a higher budget one but at the moment he's a little short for the type that we'd like to try (which is a neumann at £450) The SM58 is good for a lot of stuff but it's quite commonly found not to suit vocalists and ours is definately one of them. We're hoping to head into digital village in the near future as they have a spot to actually try these things out
11. That's going to look killer! I still need funds for a Dingwall but expect a Shuker will probably come first
12.
BREAKING NEWS! I woke up on the sensible side of my bed and decided to cancel my order for the Sandberg 5 strings "aged" I simply don't need it. Besides I have another project in the "air" with Mr. Sheldon Dingwall, so... wait and see. Watch this space. p.s.: this is the first time I ever cancel an order, I am embarassed to admit, I've never backed out on a decision before but what's in the pipeline will be more interesting.
Ah man, I want details, huge Dingwall fan! I hope this is the TB coming to life at last Although there's a couple of other basses that would look great by them IMHO (Dingwall Jaguar anyone?)
13.
it does sound very nice.
Eurgh.... ...Nice
14. Probably not got much to add as I'm going through a similar thing at the moment but I'm finding reverbnation much better than bandpage and it's a seperate site too. Merch stores, selling cd's etc etc. Very cool stuff
15.
great thanks for the advice, but will it get my son playing 'sweet child of mine' any better!
Only your son will be able to answer that. Get him down to a shop with both high and low value basses. Let him find what he likes in basses and you will be able to narrow down the search. For example: Jazz basses get a whole load of press and with good reason! However I just can't get on with them, I can play them but not as well as I can play many other basses. Before you buy any bass make sure your son tries and likes it. I highly HIGHLY discourage buying blind in this case. Good luck with your search, there are many high quality basses in the budget range you've mentioned on the Sale forum I'm sure one of them will be ideal for him. More importantly, get your son on this forum. There is so much to learn and so much knowledge on here. Rik
16. Listen to it in a full band situation and choose for yourself I listen to mine at low volume and go hmmm... Then I listen to it on my recordings and get comments after playing live about how good the bass sounded (even though the gig didn't go so well). The Autumn Leaves recording of Cerberus Cell is my ACG -> RH450 -> Di'd to desk Right next to no editing. Just incase anyone wants to listen
17.
I have heard of a few issues with classic necks, if one comes to the uk with a bad neck sure as fvck you will get it ;-)
And it will be from a bass he previously sent back
18. With just 1 x 210 the one thing that really stood out at the last gig was shear 'presence' of the bass. Apparently I was dominating the mix with my amp on 1/4
19. Welcome to BC Get ready for uncontrollable Gear Acquisition Syndrome
20. It's as simple as tell them the scale of the bass, the tone you want and the gauge you want. Can't recommend highly enough
21. Not looking too shabby (or is it... confusing!) I was expecting a little more of the burst to be showing or will that now happen naturally?
22. I'm starting to think that you might be able to use reverbnation for this kind of thing aswell but not explored it thoroughly yet.
23. The cabs for the 12's are a little bit bigger. They also have a higher wattage handling
