1. I really enjoyed it yeah, we all just felt a little let down and that we could have done better :-)
2. Well it was interesting lol. Lesson the first: when you have an intro track where you don't play anything don't get on stage until its most of the way through. Especially if the soundguy decides to out lights on when you specifically asked the room to be as dark as possible. Lesson the second: this is metal, rather heavy metal at that. But because we have programmed drums the engineer decided it was ok for us to be quiet. When this happens it doesn't really have the same impact. Lesson the third: it is really hard to play the first track when: A. The singers Mic is turned off B. The guitar is turned right down C. The drums are turned right down I was basically the only thing that was audible, it was so hard to keep in time! And it set a really bad impression for the first 5 minutes of a 25 minute set. People were nodding along by the end though. It was fun to be back on stage but I felt somewhat let down by the engineer last night. This may lead to us finding our own engineer in the future. Oh and the singers cossack dance while moshing goes down quite well :-)
3. ER-15s arriving next week They offered my Pro-17s but was nervous of something that had been so heavily recommended Black with Green Glitter Swirl too just incase anyone else in my band gets some
4. Sounds interesting, hope they're there for my visit!
5. E............. (1 hour later) ......... F..........(1 hour later)........F#......... Damn wrong note!
6.
Does this mean you now realise the Sterling is the only MM that isn't worth burning?
The person?
7. Sounds like an interesting gig, unfortunately I don't have the time for something of this level. Good luck in your search I don't think you should dismiss fingerstyle players so quickly though (says the 100% pick bassist )
8. Are you sure it wasn't a case of does this weigh 100lb?
9. Me: Let's cover this song but change it quite a lot, it could really work Him: It could sound really good but I hate that band so no.
10. It's very shukerish but I doubt it's that.
11. One pint for the night as I'm driving back but will have it before I go on. 25minute set and we're not first on so that's good. Will report back tomorrow as when I'm home me and the singer are cracking open the beers!
12. It's my first gig in 3 years tonight and I CAN NOT WAIT!!!
13.
"Outrage!! I have been sold a 3 legged donky!"
That's ridiculous, it's clearly a poorly made bass. Claiming that it is a mutilated mammal makes no sense
14.
Who is this Jon and what is his website? Is he a basschatter? Hope you get your bass sorted out Gareth.
Jon shuker. The man, the myth, the legend, the luthier I can't remember his website off the top of my head as I'm on my mobile
15. Dingwall super j iirc was quite similar. I preferred it tbh
16. I actually quite like the shape of the body but would give anywhere near the asking price for it.
17.
Oh No! What have I said????
The worst possible thing. Buy him a new stingray to make up for it
18. You gave him the keys to the cage? I'll call the warden now
19. From what I'm hearing (particularly from the OP) Musicman are going down in attention to detail. Perhaps heading the same way as fender. However fender are back on there way up so who knows what's going on?! (and I'm sure somewhere like Wizard would give making one of those pickups or very similar a good try )
20. Go to bass bashes, try custom basses. ENJOY trying custom basses. I'm sure Jon could make you something that you would love (probably the guy I would consider making the closest to stingray type basses). You know exactly what you like in basses tbh. Tell whoever to base it on a Stingray. You like solid finishes too which would bring the price down usually. Also Dingwall basses are pretty damn epic. I would obviously suggest ACG but they're not very Stingray'ish
21.
i agree with the dont drive thing, stayed out there a few years ago for a holiday and my mates dad (who lived out there) nearly got us killed nearly every day!
You say it as if it's a bad thing Made the holiday interesting didn't it? Ungrateful sod
