A rubber mic stand might do the job
I got to do a meet and greet last tour in Manchester. Very friendly and down-to-earth guys, but you feel you're kind of getting herded through a bit. They did pose for photos with everyone, though, which was pretty cool. Regardless, it will be a memorable experience if you're a big fan!
Yeah I kinda expect the herding but that's to be expected. I read something about a VIP party too, did you have that? What was the deal? Now taking bets on me blinking for the photo
Sounds good. New album is today isn't it ?
Tomorrow I believe, will be picking it up at first opportunity. Also in the first 5 rows, the first time so far that I have been glad Portnoy left as now I'm much less likely to get spat on
Email the guys at Newtone Strings, and tell them what you want to do. they really know their stuff and can give you your options and make you a custom set if need be. I went for custom heavy gauge for my bottom A.. But they will also do lighter gauges with higher tension suitable for downtuning too (god knows how they do it but they can!) Great strings too at great value. Ive had mine on since December and I'm not about to change them any time soon!
+1 I have a couple of set that they made for me for CGCF tuning and they rock! My gauges are .110 - .50 they'll sort you out and they sound awesome
I can well believe it, although I was thinking more of the claimed 3600w of The Nuke bass head. Weirdly, this thread has served to move the RH450 into my personal 'Interested' category. I've never really subscribed to the idea that you need 300w+ for a gigging bass amp, and all this talk of compression at volume and valve-like characteristics sounds like just the sort of thing I'd get on with. Maybe I should get over to TB to pickup one of these heads that people are threatening to unload.
What's the saying, any advertisement is good advertisement

You can get custom strings from newtone. I play in cgcf and they just made me a set of 110 - 50/50 strings that just have a tension made to suit. I'm sure they could do the same for any tuning :-)

Listen guys you have ALL got it wrong. This is how the conversation should go for top class service at the bass gallery: -You: Afternoon (lets face it musicians don't do mornings), how are the Sei's coming along, I've been seeing some really nice builds on Basschat -Gallery: (Silently: Aha thy're on basschat and they like the Sei's lets give 'em GAS) Aloud: Ah thanks, how many basses would you like to try? *Rubs hands together with a grin Simple really when you think about it P.S. Don't tell them if your name is TIM!!! and don't run around shouting SVT!!!! P.P.S. Fumps if you're reading, pretending you're a fire engine may get you an extra discount but be careful not to run into any basses and don't start a fire for the sake of the bit
You're stacking 4ths on 3 and a 5th of another string.....??? Doesn't sound very condusive from a fingering POV...unless anything goes if the tunes are all about open strings. Otherwise you can do all that from a normal low B set-up... but anyway.. £1000 would get you a decent set-up in the FS section, I'm sure...a decent amp and a 410 and you are sorted.... or if someone can recommend replacement drivers for the PV, but that sort of thing shouldn't be undertaken lightly, IME. You could spec the chassis' already there and ask if anyone can spec a comparable driver
It's a guitar driven tuning really. However there is absolutely NO WAY I could play these tunes on a 5 or 6 string in standard.
-
I'm playing in a metal band with the same tuning. Check out Newtone strings, they made me a custom set and they're brilliant to play. Now my strings are as tight as standard tuning on normal strings (you can't tune back up). I use my ACG through a TC RH450 & RS210 and the band loves the tone. I'll get another cab when the need arises (probably another RS210) IMHO change the strings before the cab they will change your sound WAY more than you realise. I can type in the string gauges I use if you like with the Newtones. Otherwise send me a PM and I can let you know my name so you can ask for a matching set if you're interested.

Definately understand the maple fretboard syndrom (may well have complimented the blue one nicely). Don't get me wrong, I love both but I have serious GAS for a blue flame maple Shuker atm and yours was pretty close
-
I honestly would not buy a rick without trying one. They have a peculiar feel about them (not good or bad) that some don't get on with and others love.
-
I love both the 'wicks but I think I prefer the blue one if I'm honest
Excellent, that helps a lot, many thanks! This will be my first foray into 6 string, if I like it then I'll save up and maybe get Mr Shuker to build me one as he's just up the road from me...
That's the plan for my next 6 (or 7). I need to have another go on Dood's as they are pretty much perfect for my needs!

American, European, Japanese, Korean, Chinese
charic replied to henry norton's topic in Bass Guitars
I think Manufacturing lines get reputations rather than countries. When you hear a German made Warwick is better than Korean or MIM vs CIJ vs MIA it's really about the manufacturing lines and the standard they work too. -
Very very nice, I do love how a lot of Roscoe's look like stone
Anyone that claims small diameter cones cabs can't do big lows needs to try an Acme Low-B, an Ampeg 410HLF, a Bergantino HT210, a EA VL210, etc... Or an SWR Henry 8x8"!
+ any of the PJB's!
