1.
...another view: If I was confronted with a guitarist like this, it wouldn't really bother me. I'd just work out what chords he's playing and crack on. Life's too short.
Nail -> Head Exactly my point of view. I generally know my theory however I don't expect all musicians too. If I asked my guitarist what scale he was playing in I would probably get a frown as he tried to work it out. Closely followed by me saying don't worry about it and watching whatever he's playing and working it out.

3.
They are well above my current budget. Look the business though!!!!
I used them when I was at uni, I didn't like them though. No apparent reason that I could put my finger on mind...
4. Yamaha is pretty good gear at a lowish cost. I used to use that before I upgraded to my Korg Rig
5. Interesting, I set a sound I generically like with the amp. Then I alter the bass for song variation etc.
6.
Agreed re. the EQ. Alex Claber did an interesting article in BGM the other month. Something about Fletcher Munson Curves, where the practice (low) volume may sound fine at a certain EQ, but hoik up to gig volume at the same settings and it can become really boomy/bass heavy. As the good Doctor J has prescribed, turn it up with flat EQ, then boost the mids a bit and even cut the bass if necessary. Edit - just saw you don't have a mid on the amp - try cutting both bass & treble, or boosting the mid on the Ray (if 3EQ)
Interesting, why don't they create an amp which recalls what volume you set up your eq at and then alter the EQ based on the master volume is set too. It would be a little bit approximation but should at least be worth a shot.
7. Another vote for the Yammys, I currently use HS50m's and love them.
8. Probably the most important question, what bass is it for?

11. Yeah but that only shows basschatters that are playing. Personally I'd like to be able to pick BC'ers out of the crowd too
12. I reckon one of those interlinked wristbands, we could have one orange and one black. Black with orange writing "Basschat", Orange with Black writing "Give in to GAS"
13. Ad Bands We can customise and looking at £4 for 50
14. I've always thought this would be a good thing too. I love meeting BC'ers and would probably wear a pendant or something quite happily

17. Fiat, I have to say if I had the cash that bass would be right at the top of my list. If it had one more string it would be even better
18.
you could always take a string off and i if oyu tell me what colour you like ill paint it for you lol
