I'm sensing a possible business opportunity
2. Now taking bets on the for sale thread date
3. tux guitar and powertab are quite handy. Ultimate-Guitar.com also has quite a few tabs. Welcome to bass
4.
I have actually, im in contact with Jon Shuker of Shuker bass's he's given me some helpful info, and ive also bought a book on building solid body guitars, and i also have a haynes manual for the fender strat, so hopefully, ive got some good conclusive info. Il keep you posted on how i get on, and the final result. Cheers
Another great luthier is Alan Cringean of ACG. Definately worth looking up, goes by the username 'skelf' on here. Others which I have spotted on here are letts and biarnel (? I think).
5.
...only has P bass pickups
Only!! P bass pickups can sound just as awesome/terrible as any other IMHO. Other than that I can't really add to what the others have said. Stick some new pickups in there when you get a chance and maybe turn it into a bit of a project bass.
6. I think its fair to judge a brand on anything/everything that they produce. As long as u look at specs and try to understand their aims you could still check for Qa and general sound character.
7.
Depends on the situation. I have two bands, one of which is metal & rock covers. SO think gently over-driven to Lemmy distorted. The other is a pop / functions band, so lots of messing around with the pups & EQ on the bass to go from burpy funk to disco to slap. I tend to leave the EQ on the amp flat and mess with the sound form the bass (I only use active basses for that reason). The Basebass has been fine; tonality wise I'm happy with it, and I'll probably keep it until the replacement has proved itself. The (as it's so tatty) it'll be an e-bay 99p no reserve offering.
RH450
8.
I picked up an RH450 last week second hand from here (instead of going for the BH500 for the portability). Its a great piece of kit. I have it running through a Ashdown ABM 410T and Trace elliot compact 1x15 and the bottom end is there in buckets. Still trying to find that sweet spot between rumble an punch, baffled by the whole shift-eq function - so if someone can give a quick simplistic overview of this that would be appreciated. Having the spectracomp, tubetone, tuner and preset features on one kit is fantastic.
The shift EQ allows you to choice at which frequencies you want to centre at (in order to have the largest impact at THAT frequency)
9. It looked a lot bigger in the original pics. Almost absurd. In that pic it looks kinda... normal
10. Sounds like these AHEAD sticks are the drummer equivilant to pick vs fingers. |SSSSSSS| |SSSSSSS| |SSSSSSS| < Can o' Worms |SSSSSSS| |SSSSSSS| |SSSSSSS|
11.
Id say they underpriced the cabinets.
Shhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!
12. I have the RH450 and the RS210. REALLY damn loud. It's shocked a few people on here. I can't wait to see what it can do with 2 (or even 3) of these things attached
13. It's great fun to put it on full along with my distorted sound on my TC rig. Instantly brings a grin to 'most' bassists
14. Strangely enough I've not had a single issue logging in or out on my android or my computer. IE8,9 or Firefox. I'm special
15. Before radically changing your sound I'd suggest finding somewhere you can crank your rig up and stand on the other side (& outside) of the room. See if you think it's deep enough then.
16.
Err.. No Endless PMs? Sorry, the concept of the forum is displayed for all to see on the header. It says "BassChat", not "FlogBass" If someone is interested enough to PM me a question (period, not necessarily just about for sale items), then I will respond to it. I thought that was the idea behind the site. No?
PM'd
17. Compared to the returns though? Your playing you 'nez at the moment anyway and you'll get to learn about active electronics
18. I never tried that but the input signal should bypass all user controls bar the main volume Otherwise it's a bit special
19. Checkered paint job on the body!!! Go-on, you know you want too
20. So what your saying is awesomness runs left to right? Interesting, I would have thought it would have stood looking bored in the corner
