1. Roll off the treble on the bass to maybe half, and adjust your amp accordingly. A p bass can do a lovely mellow sound! If that doesn't work maybe talk to wizard pickups? Ofcourse if your looking to cure gas then bass 'x' has the best sound in genre 'n'
  2.
Nope, I'm not name dropping. I've mentioned it in other threads on this forum however quite a few times. I will however say it's annoying as anything when you're out with friends who you knew before they got "famous" and people keep grabbing them demanding pictures to be taken, as per Saturday night. I'm happy for my mate, but even so, I'm not sure I'd enjoy being in his shoes.
I reckon its flea Go on admit it, you went for a swift pint with flea
  3.
talkass
4. They work well, very well IMHO. Had two for ages (the 300pro and the studio110) and they performed brilliantly. Only recently upgraded to the tc rh450 which is basically the same idea but on steroids
  5. I think the classic has a 'subtle' difference in voicing. I think it was BigJim who pointed this out to me. I love my RH450 and it has made a fair impact at both of the bashes I've been too
  6. First Bass Owned: Blue Quilted Maple Peavey Millenium BXP 'Go To' Bass: Greenburst Quilted Maple ACG Finn 'Your' Bass: Greenburst Quilted Maple ACG Finn
  7.
From what I remember the part in question is similar to a run Flea does in 'Right on Time' which is really handy with a pick. Its more about accuracy rather than speed. The strokes I'd use would be: down, down/up. down, down/up.down, down/up.down, down/up. Dunno if that makes much sense
That's a clearer way of saying what I was trying too
  8. Hmm interesting. I'll have to give that a shot with a pick. I would say this song would be a great chance for economy picking practice (something Dood pointed out to me) and it's something I really want to get my head around. Pick pattern in my mind: Down(Low String), Down (High String), Up (High String). Does that makes sense? In that way you can remove one wrist movement Or that could be complete and utter B@!!@£%$
  9.
Well, I totally agree about the endorsement aspect, SVT are just like a standard bit of kit that rental; companies keep in stock as they are lazy and rarely want to carry too many options. You are looking at around £3000 approx for this rig from what I remember. However it may be ideal for rental companies to carry as you can run your own preamp/pedals etc through it and have a bit more control on stage compared to the rather outdated and frankly limited SVT (albeit ideal for some). We shall see.............. Mark
Is that for the full rig above?!

    Ooohh
Actually, it's not That bass has deep tonal chambers, giving it a nice peculiar sound. It also has handwound low impedance pickup, for improved clarity and dynamic range. And about the fingerboard.. it's birdseye maple, quite stunning "in person" By the way, I'm the italian luthier who makes those basses
Nice work, however it IS another fancy jazz bass copy. It's 'fancy' (pretty woods) It's a Jazz bass And unless your Leo Fender it IS a copy Does this mean anything? Nah, I'm being pedantic. I like it though. If it's got a Jazz neck I wouldn't find it comfortable to play though. Finally, welcome to the forum.
Interesting!! I only asked about the fretboard as it looks almost a "biscuit" colour from here.
I was thinking caramel. Compromise and say twix?
  11. This is a common misconception. MIM fenders can be great what can be problematic is the QC. If you try before you buy then you'll probably come across some good and some bad. Plenty of people have tried mine and loved it Good luck in your hunt
  12. Line 6 are generally very good within your budget. However when it comes to resale you'll generally struggle. I think there's are 300pro for sale somewhere on here and they're great amps. Also VERY VERY loud (and sound alright with a guitar too on a random side note...)
  13. You missed an opportunity to ge on tv with this one I think
  14.
If they seriously find that a problem then they should not consider themselves "musicians" in any way shape or form.
Unless it's Girls Aloud ofcourse
  15. Sounds like some card is needed in the nut (or a new nut). Otherwise have you tried new strings? I had this a little while back thinking this was a major issue. Changed the strings and all fixed
  16.
Good lick with the sale.
Is that a promise
  17.
True. No one who's really famous plays bass. Like -say - Barack Obama, Jackie Chan or Bill Tarmey. Really famous people get really famous because they want to be noticed. By contrast, 99% of bass players shun the spotlight. Showing off is just not their muffin. Therefore nobody really famous will ever be spotted on BC. And that's the way we like it.
I'm sure Bill Bailey can turn his hand to bass
  18.
Look, there is only one REALLY FAMOUS bass player anyway, and that is Mark King v Flea.
You mean MarkFlea FleaKing
  19. If I was going to go Jazz bass I would probably go Shuker, I love my ACG 4 but after playing Doods 7 string I really want a 6 string shuker
  20.
Ed Hetherton - Elliot Minor
And he's am absolute gent. Had a great night at one of their gigs hanging out and just chatting bass (see what I did there? )
  21. I know the structures of the songs and I know the basic patterns but they vary a lot throughout the songs.
  22. I've got the structures down for these songs (mostly) it's more remembering the notes. I'm going to pull the songs apart into sections later and rearrange at random till I can play each section without trouble. New stronger callousses will be present at the end of the day I expect
