1. Hi peoples, Im looking at moving on my samick 6 string bass seen Here Im looking at picking up the skinny stringer (guitar) just as a learning excercise. Particularly interested in strats etc but I'm open to suggestions tbh. I've fairly recently had a Aguilar OBP-3 cicuit installed into it but a friend made a bit of a mess with the electronics and there is a small hole where the old side socket was as I have made it front mounted now. Looking for approx £400 considering the cost of the electronics. Cheers for looking Any questions then feel free to ask Rik
2. Yeah but if you go to the other affiliates bit, theyre all there instead

8.
Just seen the pics here and it's a stunning instrument. I didn't realise that the green would be not just on the front and back of the body, but in the maple in the neck as well. I might need to get out more, but I've never seen a bass with that before Now only if it was 5 string.... Hmmm
yeah the coloured stringers were an idea. Ties the hole bass together nicely imho. Dont worry already speccing up the next one... More than 4 strings next time too. But need a new car and a house first. Maybe new amp too.... Overtime here i come!
9.
There's a lot to be learn just 'playing' and experimenting with the pre. I wrote a guide or tips for setting up somewhere. Ere tis: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=41878&hl=acg01 Peter
much appreciated, i really got a great sound today at practice. Cut right through the mix without being at all harsh. Although guitarists then decided for once to play quiet and lost its edge unfortunately not the basses fault the setup i had just sounded alot better louder. Much experimenting to be had!
10. my last too practice amps are as follows: ashdown perfect 10 : cheap for what it does 30w and will bring a smile to you face line6 studio110 : this could last you right up to gigging time and even then you can plug it into a pa. Great for recording and has a massive variety of sound.
11. well what to say, ive now been playing this bass for 4 hours. A beautiful and brilliant piece of kit. The preamp is amazing as many have said. Took some getting used to though. Spent ages trying to get my sound and realised i was going about it all wrong and just dialled in several sounds that i liked before realising i had to mess with the amp. All of a sudden im able to dial in everything from warwick to pbass. Clangy to deep thud. Playability wise the first comparison i made was to dr of the bass, nick's vigier as it was very similar. it plays a breeze for tap, slap, pick or fingerstyle. More detail later
12. The reason i got a custom was because i couldnt get everything i wanted from a stock bass. its arriving tommorrow if i like that as much as i suspect then it will be the last 4 i plan to buy. You cant usually make similar comments about a cheap bass: -one of a kind -own ideas and specs well worth it imo (and still cheaper than a stingray )
13.
Wow that's a beast of a spec dude! Eude
its why i need to learn to build basses!
14. I wonder if it would be worthwhile setting up some kind of music community (ie basschat would work or could make another site for more people aswell) which would set up for good gig swapping, opening acts, main acts, setting up gigs for each other etc. Doing this all with a little card saying im in community "x" could eventually land gigs later on. Getting said card would be obtained by 1st playing as a support act etc Just an idea, I would get involved in helping but I have nowhere near enough spare time to run it. If I was in a gigging band I know I would offer out for support acts here if I needed them.
15. Looks great. I cant wait for mine to arrive! (saturday) im already speccing up the next one! Bubinga core, 6 or 7 string, buckeye burl front/back/headstock and spalt maple neck all on a ghallus... am i the only one drooling?
16. Consider yourselves lucky! Im in the final stages of waiting for a custom bass to arrive! As in its arriving saturday. Its gonna drive me mental!
17. out of interest what kind of sound do u get from this? Im also fairly interestd in the 700rbII
18. Thats actually come up looking pretty nice. Almost 3D should be a great looking bass
19. ive got the 10" combo too. Thats not going anywhere. The replacement for the 300 is gonna xost a LOT more than that did!
20. Theres absolutely nothing wrong with the line6 believe me
21. just to say, if anyones in the area. More than welcome to pop by if im available
22. pick playing on here every so often gets the usual grief. Few seem to realise the amount of work that goes into getting everything right. theres a lot of tonal versatility that can come from just altering your picking style. Good luck with sorting it out. Heres some songs I particularly enjoy with a pick: black lung: rancid face down in the dirt: motley crue screamager: rancid and the real me : the who all great fun. Rancid is particularly good for technique imo
23.
Wow, looks great. I had wondered how that one was coming along. Can't wait to see some good pics. Sound clips would be even better.
I'll probably get sound clips at some point.
24. is it bad i had forgotten i specified coil switching.... Oops! Was a nice surprise though!
