I'm assuming you mean the SR range as the ATK and BTB don't share the SR's super slim profile necks. I have a GSR200 that I often gig with a that has a wider neck than my previously owned SR300E and SR400
Nope! The ATK I haven't tried. The BTBs are still too shallow for me though

Crikey, they are fast becoming my favourite basses, the old 80's and 90's jobs
I wanted to like them for a long time but then necks are just too small for me to play comfortably and I tend to get cramp eventually.

You mean changing the routing so that the backing is only on output 1 and the click on output 2?
Yeah, sorry I probably could have phrased that better

Windows 10 should be the same as windows 10 on a PC
Providing the tablet has the capabilities then look at programs rather than "apps", think of it as a laptop rather than a pad.
To that end you have at your disposal some quite powerful bits of kit (providing the tablet can run them, usually there's free trials), ableton lite might be worth a look for live performance

Fixed.

double fixed
I would say that the role of bass guitarist has as long a life-span in it as any other "standard" instrument from a band scenario.
However, the role of bassist may evolve to include basslines played on other instruments as part of "standard" practice (as long as we're discussing music that is played live that is) much as electronic drum kits are slowly becoming more popular
Internet bands are on the rise a bit at the moment. I think the mentality of these is : we will record and release stuff, posting regularly to social media and the like and if the demand calls for it we'll look at branching out to gigging if/when the need arises.

I personally wouldn't touch ProTools with a bargepole until they drop the iLok requirement. I appreciate that copy protection is probably a requirement, but the company behind iLok are simply too unreliable for a supposedly professional piece of software.
Been running for around 8 years now and never had a problem with iLok... Touch wood!
It sounds like you want a generally clean sound, in that case I would definitely be looking at EMGs personally
Find a bass in a shop equipped with pickups you'd like to try and see what they sound like maybe the easiest way to test without losing a tonne of money
If you're definitely moving to acoustic kit (you could always consider a hybrid, a converted acoustic kit for the visuals but it won't fix your other two bugbears) then I would consider the drummer starting with the smallest kit he can get away with (as in number of drums/cymbals). The best sound I've ever heard in pubs have always been from bands with smaller kits.

The lack of bending down is why I went with the rack
Exactly! That plus the fact that my desk has the ability to rack stuff means it will be really neat and tidy!
It might be worth checking what software the uni actually uses before you splurge out either way (apologies if you already have)
ProTools is now on a monthly license and would mean that you're not tied to a mac if you're not that way inclined. Also question whether a laptop is essential, will a desktop potentially work?

Thanks for all the input on the question I started with (and the follow up!).
Going forward, it's given me something to think about, but in the meantime - that Ashdown ABM EVo II 1x15 Combo dropped just nicely earlier this week!
- A tad under £130 on ebay - tested and it's absolutely fine for now. Maybe a 2x10 will be added if things get more serious.
Sounds like you got a good little bargain there!
If you're ever going to look at expanding personally I would look at either a 1x15 or a 4x10

. . . . and people are posting like they know more about this stuff than Alex does! Jeeez!

Makes for a good conversation though doesn't it!
