That CAR one is lovely, id stick a status neck on there and change the scratchplate then be in nirvana. Always wanted a CAR P but went for black for some reason... dont think they do mims in CAR mind

Is it bad that all this talk of amps and cabs is giving me gas for a new rig... if alex done a 4x10 that looks rawk I could be in trouble lol. My band doesnt even gig!!! Or have a singer or drummer for that matter... Pedals it is

All i have ever found in that area is sheer boom. Top Mid would be my suggestion or around 800-1k. Although you may then be fighting the guitards a bit there. The kick will be lost with a boost around 200-300Hz IIRC. Been a little while since Ive done any mixing but I usually cut those frequencies on pretty much everything by atleast a little bit.

I thought I got a pretty good ampeg sound and a/b'd it with an ampeg. Preferred the line6 in the end

Mr T have you tried sticking a couple of bricks in the bottom then its not a lightweight amp anymore

Quite interested in one of these, anyway else have any views? Looks like a great bit of kit im quite often aiming for quite an ambient sound when noodling by myself. Also thinking looping could be an interesting experiment.

Have you tried placing the cab on something out of interest? Getting your cab more toward head/chest height will mean that higher frequecies will reach your ears a lot easier. Your drummer may also appreciate this

Just an idea to make this thread less confusing, refer to distortion as THD lol im guessing this is what you mean by distortion most of the time anyway

Mr. T. Im probably missing something here but perhaps you LIKE the sound of colouration coming from cabs? Its not abnormal in the slightest. Loads of people love it, having a clean signal outside of the studio is over-rated imho. You like your HIFI system? Guess what it has colouration. A lot of these new fangled lightweight cabs are designed to be extremely accurate. Which is all well and good if thats what you want. I believe this Alex's route and from what people are saying im sure he does it well. However on the other end of the spectrum we have the instant classics. Ampeg/Trace etc. These cabs by definition are knowhere near accurate but they sound good to some people, actually quite alot. Could be alex's cabs arent for you. Just a different view on the same situation I guess. On a side-note. Alex without being rude you sound far too defensive of your product, from what I gather you have a right to be VERY proud of your product and for that well done however I doubt its a one stop solution for everyone. As I say well done and Im in no way slating your product

Ive been having gas for a new rig myself... Then i realised ive only bin playing thru my practice setup lately! Plugged in my main amp and my gf was asking me whats wrong! I couldnt stop grinning! Ive been song writing since!

Ive a/b'd my line6 with an ampeg and preferred mine. I cant remember which it was though. I highly recommend the line6 with enough change for a pbass!

I have the line6 300pro and love it. Plugged it in earlier as im usually using my practice amp and it brought a huge smile to my face. If your ever nearby your welcome to pop by n crank it up. Although not to full volume as last time i done that part of a church roof fell lol!

The way I see it EQ is going to sound different on every piece of kit. Different instruments have different EQ's etc. Its part of the character of the bass. Ive got my line 6 with my presets laid out but getting an acg is going to add a whole new level of versatility to my rig. Being an onboard filter pre-amp its EQ is going to be VERY different to my amp and pbass current setup
