  1. Haha, if u dont mind. I think i may have a small bass related prize in mind. Im not sure if this is gonna help the gas situation and warmoth seems to be a very expensive option. Any other ideas?
  2. Im just wondering if anyone is bored enough to attempt a thunderbird bass paintshop for me. The spec im considering is alpine white body, black hardware and scratchplate. Matching white headstock, maple neck with black blocks. The image in my head is good Id just like to see it before I keep dreaming especially as Ive actually started drawing up specs If anyones up for it then thanks alot and a drinks in it for ya if we meet at a bass bash

  5. Ive had it happen to me a couple of times, and ive left a band of my own accord once. Just keep plugging away and something else will come up. Tbh im putting nowhere near enough time into learning the songs for my current band as im bogged down with work. But meh... Edinburgh eh? I wouldve thought it wouldnt be TOO hard to find a new band
  6. nice 2 see were on a similar page buzz!
  7. ByTheSea - I always thought the new gallus shape would look great headless Theres some nice ideas on the thread, i played a vigier a while back, great sound but the neck was too thin for me Anyone got any idea if such a bass as I described exists btw? Lol!
  8. Im currently gassing over the idea of a pure white tbird (none of that off white stuff for me, i want it to look like its been washed with daz! ) with black hardware and scratchplate, maple neck with black blocks and matching headstock. How bout you?
  9. Im really wanting the xtraclef in green n black for my acg when it arrives
  10. di into pa for practice, sansamp or lowdown110 practice amp maybe?
  11. Greeneking... Have you considered rehab Bythesea... When mine arrives your welcome to try it out if your nearby!
  12. I think as greeneking says the aesthetics are down to the person. However some of Alans shapes ARE a bit more out there than is normal. For example I really like the new gallus or whatever its called. But I know many people wont. The recurve is a bit more ... lets say conventional. And as for the finn... Well I for one cant wait to get my mitts on mine!
  13. Have you tried moving the cab further away from yourself? Also putting it nearer a corner can help boost your sound without annoying guitards.
  14. John Petrucci also uses something similar. Its on the live at budokan extras
  15. contouring is just as welcome Pickups can be modded Bridges can vary tone and playability alot Pre-amps Woods Design aspects aesthetically. Plenty to get on with
  16. Whats with everyone selling these atm? What are they all getting replaced with one wonders...
  17. Ah it could of been, it looked like dark poplar burl. But that was just a guess. Yes very even sound and I guess that yes it would of worked well for fast riffs. However with my semi-retarded thumb playing fast was beyond me Not that I play jazz anyway
  18. Thanks alot mate when I become famous I'll send you a whole pack of signed plectrums in return Will send the envelope 2moro Edit for an extra smiley as there werent enough
  19. I want the ellefson one not that id use it mind...
  20. Well during the week myself and my rather bored looking girlfriend had a "quick visit2 into the bass gallery. Where I tried out some amazing basses. First and foremost was a dingwall 5 string super J. It was a lovely beast probably the nicest playing bass I have tried. The fanned frets felt absolutely natural except while 2 finger tapping. 2nd was a 6 string sei singlecut, poplar burl. Played well but as said before on this site very polite sounding. I failed to get a real rock tone out of it and the output seemed fairly low in comparison to other basses through the same rig. Although I didnt mess around with the EQ on the amp as I was checking more for playability of basses on the visit and trying some higher end stuff I hadnt before. Last I tried a 6 string status. I loved the neck, the graphite really is a work of art. It was a green 6 string stealth, sound was good if not QUITE to my taste I felt with more tweaking i could of managed to find a sound that had really tweaked. I had trouble playing the basses by the way do to trapping myt right hand thumb in the hinge of my door and having to have the nail drilled to release the pressure The staff seemed great and even allowed me a little look round their workshop downstairs gotta run now, rik
  21. that lower horn is a whole new level of wrong. The controls are in the wrong place too...
  22. Just a tip check with alan at acg! My bass just over a grand and thats with a couple of extras! Thats for a 4stringer tho. You may be surprised, i was!
