Try cutting the eq at around 1.2-2.5k for a bit should tame it. Unfortunately i dont think you can automate in audacity. If i had logic on my comp i would offer to give it a shot for you.
im assuming this is a gigging rig due to the back quote. I would suggest mackie 215's with a tapcojuice1400. Bout 500quid 4 the lot. Will easily run you both.
Live a stereo pan probably will cause problems. But depending on effect it wil probably be cureable.

Line6 all the way i was shocked at the full volume so you could easily practice with it.
I own the 300w version myself. Other than that the ashdown perfect 10 is pretty darn awesome. Roland cubes just sound cheap to me. Sorry
In my experience ampeg and markbass are worlds apart.
Ampeg = Dirty gritty punchy full beef bass sound full of all that rock tone you know and love from ampeg
Markbass = Cut through a mix, sounds good quality but sterile to my ears. Probably a bit more suited for the sound of the bass shining through rather than colouring it with the amp.
Just my experience with the 2
Best advice I can possibly give is that which I've learned.
1. Go to a local music shop, go and have a chat convince them your there to buy
2. Dont be afraid to try UGLY basses or expensive basses
2. Try the expensive stuff THEN the cheap find which basses did it for you and which didnt
3. Leave said shop(s) empty handed and do research on every bass you liked
4. Find common factors in all basses and post on here for general opinions
5. Pick your favourite or alternatively research ones you havnt tried but like many properties they have.
6. Check the for sale section here before buying first hand gear
7. Save up after buying said gear for your dream rig and develop major GAS attacks
8. Enjoy basschat and the community
9. Welcome by the way
10. Pirates and Ninja's are cool
I've already posted one, I'll include a free set of invisible roto's some replacement invisible pickups and invisible hardcase
Im good like that
Weighs nothing at all so shipping will be cheap too

Urs is nearly ready isnt it!
A big thanks to sugden for producing this render for me. It simply looks stunning! I had something in my head, a rough idea.. and I thought nah it'll never look that good. This.. this looks SO much better!
I don't care about other basses now, this one is it.. the one!

I cant stop looking at it
Technique wise I cant help you on finger picking as im predominantly a pick player myself. Left hand is best practiced a finger per fret and thumb middle of neck really.
I highly recommend powertab and tabs are available at ultimate guitar. That program contains notation and tab so you can learn both at once.
Final trick which helped me, turn lights off if your just fiddling about as it betters your muscle memory
Over & Out
Ofcourse we could also organise a mass gig as an afterthought. This is an attempt to get really going as a band as my bands lazyness at times is p*ssing me off and I want to gig more but dont have enough songs to fill a full set. If anyone is willing to come to cambridge/peterborough/huntingdon i could try to sort something as I used to organise gigs round here.
Hey guys just had this thought. I know of a few basschatters in the area however I've not met with any and only contemplated gigging with one. Since were spread out across the UK this could be a great opportunity to get gigs elsewhere if your in need of a support act or headliner.
So heres the idea, post a link to a myspaz page or similar
If you dont have recordings describe the type of music (and possibly explain the lack of recording)
State your area
State whether you think you should be headlining or support
State whether you need others
Possibly post a band picture
If you want another band PM that band member and discuss via PM so as not to fill the thread.
I'll go first:
Band: Scream In Unison
Myspaz: www.myspace.com/screaminunison
Area: Cambridgeshire but willing to travel
SUPPORT
Theres no recording yet because I simply havnt got around to anything and the last attempt has no singer or bass. If interested I can email a copy of that.
Were a heavy rock band sporting an excellent female singer. Were heavily influenced by metallica, offspring, foo fighters etc etc etc.
Were only at the 30minute set stage at the moment so were definately a support act for the time being

Just played through it, getting the gallops at 175bpm isnt all that easy but its doable. I found myself losing the beat at times though. Just keep working at it and the stamina stuff. Ive just ran through it 3 times, not perfectly by any means but still no acheing
