1.
i hate the shape and the shape of the pickguard and they're just really generic.
So they should try and be less generic? So its their fault a bunch of companies have copied the shape and they became popular? Theyre generic because you see so many... probably for a good reason
2. And hopefully what I deserve isnt a slap in the face
3. Nemore people wanting this? How are people getting on with it btw?
4. Why has this not been used as a weapon lol.
5. What if you combine all of them into one uber-tune? Thinking of either taking on earth. Coz to me its actually a serene picture
6. Oh thankyou sir penguin ill let u know how i get on once ive done the work. Broke the d string on the bass last night purely out of frustration!
7. You cant get into the pickups theyre a sealed unit and have no brand name on them. Researching samicks seems impossible. Yes they have a braided shield. Ah I see, however i still have to work out where to earth too. Would this by why i was getting no actually bass sound either out of interest?
8. Oh and theyve added a wire to the jack for earthing now
9. Ok then new problem.. only one wire from each pickup!
10. hold on... pickup earths? :S + common earth? where should these be.. omg i think your my saviour mr penguin!
11. Oh and yes it was active before hand. Yep the 2 vol circuit as shown
12. The stereo jack socket is supplied. I can take a pic later. Im wondering if resistors are supplied in the volume pots now :S
13. Just been to fit my new pre-amp. The aguilar OBP-2 into my samick 6'er. I connected it as such: Pickup 1 - Volume 1 Pickup 2 - Volume 2 Jack socket - Wire coming from bridge area which I presumed was for grounding. Now im confused coz everytime i hit a note it just buzzes. So i split the wire joining to the bridge and now it continually buzzes. Can someone PLEASE help me with this as I am now confused as hell. Im not new to electronics so i figured this would be easy enough (as it seemed) so wot the hell? Thx in advance, Rik
14. Nuts indeed! I ended up with over 200 graphs to look through and compare! Yeah it was a lot of work but more quenching personal interest than anything. Coincidently I'm considering teaching music tech at college. I learnt a lot from this and i really would like to carry on testing to gain a full set of results aswell as a program to calculate the frequency change for microphone placements. Which I'm starting to work out the basics of now Glad you enjoyed the read and the overhead microphone technique sounds brilliant!
15. The tracks were a good 30 seconds long, the source was actual instruments rather than white noise. The inaccuracy was due to the fact that the timed spectral analysis is due to the very slight differences. Its plausible just not in the timeframe. Bare in mind i got 63 recordings from this work aswell lol. The microphones positions which were compared were all the same microphones so as to be a fair test so the response graphs seemed unneccesary. I do wish to carry on this work, i just need the correct situation again. And your input is very much appreciated
16. The problem with the FFT thing is, as an FFT is spread over time it looses accuracy. I tried spectral graphing too, but that was too innacurate. What I need to do is create a program which: -Takes samples at 10ms periods -Calculates the amount of samples taken -Calculates FFT values for each sample -Adds all values together and divides by the number of samples You can see why this would be an extremely difficult program to create. However I've managed to gather some useful information this way Enjoy the read
17. A U87 is indeed a brilliant microphone as is pretty much any neumann. However ive found that condenser microphones SOMETIMES (depending on the amp) pick up too much detail, this is a particular problem with neumanns. My friend was recording a piano with a neumann tlm103 INSIDE an upright piano, it picked up the sound of the clock in the room :S oh and people outside the room

Warwicks

I think the standard models are all the "same level" as with the jazz and pbass thing. However they have pro-lines etc which complicate matters
19. Standing waves are a form of resonance. It is usually found in longer rooms and effects bass frequencies waveforms are much "longer" and more powerful than high frequencies (told you bass was better than guitar). Basically your waveform could of been reflected off of the far wall and if to peaks of a wave hit each other they add together and at that point the bass frequencies will sound louder. Its not really amp science but acoustics. I find it hard to explain without pictures and im not at my home comp, may try again later
20. Check the classifieds you'll find summat, dont rule out the option of shippage if its a good enough deal
21. Will send it after work this is proving to be quite popular
22. I can see your dilemma, you have gas. Your a bassist, you want basses. However if you want to be heard too I agree with the rest ampage. Id suggest saving up a tad further. Highly recommend the Line6 lowdown series
23. Belated is fine i like to hear back opinions on the work too. Another copy on its way
24. Thankyou very much it means a lot it really does. I really hope I manage to get the ball rolling in the Audio Music Tech area of my life. Its not an easy industry though. I hope you find it very useful
