1. Maybe this is why leo made to basses that are worthwhile?
2.
Having had time to digest the content, I can immediately see where you were going with this project. Easy to understand and grasp, and honest in the assessment of it's success. In some ways the perfect experiment, leaving scope for further development whilst showing promise in that achieved so far. The initial aim is a really good one - to show how preservation of the original signal might be aided by careful mic technique. This is a vastly neglected area, and careful placement can give benefits out of all proportion to the short time taken in being careful. In decades gone past it was one of the only ways of adjusting the sound, and the lessons seem to have been lost. Hopefully this will help revive interest in attention to detail in mic placement. It has with me. Excellent.
You just made my morning hopefully potential employers will think the same of my work I actually plan to carry on such work as although its tedious and boring... makes it seem worthwhile
3. PM replied and guide emailed. May it be of help to you all who have messaged me so far. Opinions and comments here please
4. lmfao, tip 2 : next time hire me
5.
says the man in the bright red beret...
+ toothy grin + topless pic + holding a large piece of wood
6.
As someone who has spent time with his head in a bass drum to find the sweet spot, yes I reckon a copy would be useful. PM sent.
Just a tip, microphones dont pick up the same as what you hear. Best method if trying to find the "sweet spot" headphones and microphone in hand. Opinions on the work would be nice
7.
I don't really like Fenders, but I thought this would be a laugh. There's no happy mediums here, I won't add "other" to the poll. If you don't want to vote you don't have to. Let's have it out!
I meant the fight that they had going on but hey... P for me, prefer then neck and tone on my mim
8.
PJ fight! YEAH! C'mon!
Reckoning a battle of the basses should be a new thread
9. Well my dissertations written, its on "microphone positioning and the effects it has on the frequency content of sound". Thought it may be of interest to a few of the engineers on here. Some of the writing may well make you think of microphone positioning in a whole new way, The rest will work as a quick and easy guide for "that particular sound" recording. PM me your email if you want a copy and ill email the pdf across. Rik
10.
that sounds like a reasonable trade off; no kids = more bass
Not sure I agree, long term kids may pay off in the bass field: -Collect basses -Have Kid -Get Kid addicted to bass at young age -Kid buys basses -Confiscate basses when kid is bad -If kid is never bad frame kid It could work IMO
11. Agreed bout the C falling off... The B also looks to be in danger... Has anyone here played the 6 bongo yet
12. Not sure whats in it atm as i cant see manufacturers name anywhere on it. Its my samick 6er I acquired recently. Thinking of buying aguilar pre-amp on friday. Just wondered about the whole battery issue mainly
13. I say leave it how it is... when i see a post for sale and then see their a newbie personally I steer clear. Out of safety for my own money. Every transaction I have finished has resulted in me talking to the selling extensively beforehand anyway though. I should expect others to do the same. Two of my transactions have been trades.. IMO this takes MORE trust than a cash transaction. Look after yourself and be careful. CK i like it how it is.. personal opinion
14. Can someone clear summat up with me for active circuitry? Does one have active pickups and active pre-amp as two seperate components? Would they need 9v battery EACH? Or would they share it? Or am i totally off the rails atm?
15. Get your band a gig there and then you get to split the costs off petrol
16. dammit you all beat me to it... what they said
17. If you find the right MIM it can be an absolute JOY to play. Ive never found another fender i like as much as my MIM. God knows why but hey
18. Ellefson also used a pbass. Peavey are also good metal basses. Dream theater used : Yamaha (trb1006 and myung sig model i believe), now MM bongo 6 and if i remember correctly it used to be a "tung" bass or something of the sort? +1 on warwicks for metal Maybe an idea of budget? And what YOUR particular sound would be? Do you find yourself cranking the treble or boosting the bass? Im a treble man myself with a pick to cut right through.
19. Think mines the Korg DT-10 if i remember correctly. When at home i just use the tuner on my line6 lowdown
20. Bassbloke, how much? And whats the z-mode do? Are pre-amps ever suited for particular styles of music? I want a metal sound out of it.
21. This is most definately not a budget bass I believe the retail new is in the region of $1000 via my research. Looking at upto £100. Also considering a pickup mod. It plays well, and has the ability to sound gr8 too (altho atm i have to fiddle extensively on my amp to alter eq) just want to make it all it can be (and with f#kd eq thats impossible)
