"output"

Its probably usually better for the signal to noise ratio too. And it sounds better to metal heads... THIS BASS IS LOUDER THAN THAT ONE! Ofcourse the correct metal reply is: "But my amp goes up to 11"
2. I sound engineer for a local band, their mates of mine. And weve just got these! http://www.dv247.com/invt/40608/ Cant wait to give it a go Mackie 215's and Tapco Juice 1400 Oh and btw their myspace is: http://www.myspace.com/andogdemons
3. On the otherside of things: -Avoid wearing zips/bracelets/necklaces (anything that can rattle) -If you tap you foot while you play and you are overdubbing bass it may be worth removing shoes (although others may not appreciate this ) -Be enthusiastic, be psyched up... your playing to an audience... possibly your biggest yet (it comes through on recordings) -Listen to what the engineer says and make sure your band do the same, also make sure NOT to get on the wrong side of him obviously -Know all your songs inside out BUT dont be afraid to improvise spur of the moment if its there use it -Be cool, be relaxed (but keep the enthusiasm) -If you take a few beers with you offer one to staff (always makes a good impression) and finally -Dont be afraid to ask questions! Majority of studio engineers LIKE talking about what theyre doing and just dont want to bore people! Rik
4. No problemo, and dont be shy of the 2nd handers on here ofc
5. Trb 1005 (I tried and LOVED the 1006) http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~Y...ass~ID~3403.asp Pretty sure it can handle a good rock or metal sound too I loved the sound i got out of it. Also see here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=16168
6. Within 4 weeks of beginning to play bass i had a gig filling in with the band i sound engineer for... Headlining acts bassist had recently died (friend of mine) and it was in his honor as such... Anyway to the point now, the bassist filling in for the bassist was none other than J J Burnell and being who i was i knew he was well known but had no idea HOW well known. I never took the time to say more than "Hi" to the guy really and i look back on it and kinda wish I had. Live n learn eh
7.
For all those who think I'm trying to find a shortcut to learn the bass, this is not so. I know the bass is a different animal from the guitar which I am used to. I would just like to have EADGBE tuning on it. It's not the tuning that makes it a bass, it's the sound.
Thinking more like a bassist then many bassists i know
8. Sounds like fun, ill see about making it to the next one but i work wkends . Hmm.....
9. Wow varied replies! Ive saved a link of this finish for future reference tho Oh and btw i AM in a metal band
10.
Unfortunately for you the Andreas Shark Basses (Bull Shark and Basking Shark) aren't single cuts. The body shape was based on a reversed version of the guitar but with a long top horn. There was a photo of the later Infeld version of the bass posted in a thread here a while back but I can't find it now...
Ah well these things happen too often too me... guess its another custom job waiting to happen when I "have the money" lol
11. Usually i hate sunburst finishes but this... this is remarkable http://www.warmoth.com/showcase/sc_guitar_...2&type=bass What do you think?
12. Hmm, 2nd hand mex and save for a replacement neck?
13. amazing singer thankies. IMHO ofcourse. Last album was awesome too a joy to see at wembley arena
14. Id love the andreas black shark as a bass! Thats EXACTLY the shape id love Could be the first singlecut shape i like too
15. Get shuker on the job... Haha thats a first my first mention of shuker... thought it would be novel here tho lol Although i wonder what he'd say

19.
I really, REALLY hate dream theatre. So so boring. This kind of music is basically there because musicians like to show off, and other musicians like to watch musicians show off. If musicians didn't buy music, dream theatre would be flat broke.
Somewhat agree to an extent but being an avid dream theater fan i demand you know your songs first particularly their latest album which is less... "showy" if you want. Btw the original song that got me into dream theater was "endless sacrifice". Anyways heres 2 songs that have turned 7 ppls heads UNTIL i told them it was dream theater (their very very multiskilled, ie.. a ragtime is in one solo or other but i forget which song as i havnt watched the dvd in a few days) -Forsaken -Wait for sleep I DARE you not to like them Youd be the first not too out of everyone i knw lol even my MUM likes em!
20. My fave part about it is he didnt even know....
21. ^^^ Excellent Post Id just like to say though, even with that in mind i PERSONALLY prefer heavier basses due to it FEELING sturdier and more like quality. Just my point of view on these things
22. For me the biggest delay when multiple bands are playing... Guitarists sitting there before the first song (on stage of course) and tuning
23.
I know Fenders can sound interesting if the player works at it, but I have to say that nearly all the bass sounds I've liked in the past were not Fender sounds. From McCartney through Entwistle & Squire, Mick Karn, John Taylor, Tony Butler & Pino, Tony Levin or Jim Glennie, through to Cliff Burton, John Myung, Fieldy & Chris Wolstenholme. I want to hear that bass stamp its authority on the song, so I can hear the player clearly as a full member of the band, not just part of the "rhythm section".
Oh so not a fan of iron maiden im pretty sure harris has his bass stamp there! Also David ellefson used to have pbass and again the stamp was there Its a recognizable sound, being a pbass player and proud btw i feel that if it fits in the band right then its what you should use
24. Mine, mine, mine, mine, mine oh and guess whos learning 6 string bass now me dream theater here i come
25. Ive got a marshall distortion, a boss distortion and a big muff (pedal!) all willing to be put into the pot if your interested. Also got a warwick rockbass 1 pickup streamer
