1. I always TRY to get the bass cutting through the mix nicely but it can be difficult depending on equipment tbh.

Rolling some bass off of guitars can help but you have to be careful. Usually a mid boost will get it cutting through a bit nicer. However i tend to just tell a bassist what to do with the EQ on his/her amp (unless the amp is terrible ocourse).

Even when working as a sound engineer i have encountered sum engineers which are... just rude. For example being told to F off becuase i asked him to make the lead guitar louder than the rhythm guitar..

He did NOT get a pint!

2. Although your EQ says that operates at 45Hz on the bass EQ this just means this is the middle of the selections of frequencies that it is controlling. When you play with EQ you move a whole selection of frequencies not just a select frequency (usually... there are some that do this). The amount of frequencies it controls are known as the "Q" or width.
So chances are your also selecting frequencies below 45Hz too :)

Yay techy moment

3. Strange to have the person in question log in and not reply. Im thinking a feedback rating should be visible under the persons name. Although i have noticed that older contributing members to the forum do seem to sell better than "newbies" and perfectly understandable why tbh. Maybe on this forum weve set ourselves up to easily to be scammed. Altho saying this:

1 trade = successful no hiccups
1 buy = successful no hiccups
1 buy = successful but royal mail decided to hold onto said item for way to long

4. This is my MIM fender P! It plays like a dream.... I prefer it to many a higher spec model. Including MIA Fender P's. I do care about how this done... so im willing to spend a pretty penmy making it prettier :)

5. Yeah sorry i should of thought about what i was typing :) i know how to go about getting it done. I was asking for examples of what you consider to be a nice metallic green. Altho the idea of green n black stripes on a pbass is great i reckon haha

6.
Sound engineers cant polish a turd. Something many people forget.
Wana bet? I wish i could show you some old mixes i worked on. You couldnt look at that turd without squinting :)

Honestly though more often than not "polishing the turd" is exactly what sound engineers HAVE to do. This is usually why its OK sound and not great sound. However saying this i was talking to the sound engineer (being unhappy with the mix and asking him to turn up the lead guitar and down the rhythm n being the usual engineer/manager) and he told me to F off. He ended up with a whole nights worth of angry bands getting at him tho so we werent the only band to be unhappy with it.

7. Imagination run wild you say... now youve done it :)

Ok heres one ive been pondering over myself recently and could have been done but i havnt seen it yet. How about a pickup that was BOTH a P and J style pickup and is possible to switch between the two?

I kind of have an idea how to put this one into action too.

Imagine this is the pickup configuration:

[][] Each square is the same size as a single PUP of P size proportions and you simply turn on the pickups you wish to
[][] use. People talk about versatility... this would definately do that!

Feasable?
