1. Its just drop D, im considering dropping the rest so i still have the same Patterns as i used to. For clarification it means im currently tuned DADG. Considering moving to DGCF. Are there any potential problems with this? Truss related etc? (Im still scared of touching my truss!)
2. I want one.... pulls fluff out of pocket.... Ill swap one for my peavey (dont hurt me)
3. Ram usually helps computers but if your already running 4.5gb you should be well in the clear. The best headphones ive come across for mixing (live and at home) are DT150's by beyer. Ill let someone else explain RAM
4. You guys got any tips to adjusting to drop d tuning? Im joining a band and they play in drop D and im not really used to working out runs and the such tuned like this.
5. Highly recommend seymour 1/4pounders for the P, they sound SOOOO good on mine. Oh wait come to think of it don't its my secret (steve harris and mark hoppus dont count either... i was there first............................honest )
6. Coupled with my other thread.... which basses have you looked at and thought what a bunch of cr@p, decided to play it and oddly enough it sounded fantastic?
7. What basses have you looked at and thought wow thats beautiful, to only play it and be let down?
8. I use brain picks. The 1.14mm. They last ages and sound good to me
9. That "nirvana" vid brought back painful memories. It was almost as bad as some guys at my old school who decided to play limp bizkit "just keep rolling". We couldnt help it, we p1ssed ourselves laughing (but we were polite, we left first.... for their sake and ours)
10. For me its a pint before and a pint while on, if alls going well and its not going to my head ill take a 3rd on for the 2nd half. Its all dependant on how im feeling
11. Thanks for the advice so far, these guys seem awesome, its been cool chatting to the guitarist so far and im looking forward to it. And admittedly a tad nervous (this happens still although i played my first gig infront of 200 ppl 4 weeks into playing bass :S). Ive been listening to the music (or song) that they have on myspace and it seems easy enough to write stuff to, just play along kinda thing and add a fill where you can. Any tips on working out runs on short notice btw? Im hoping to be able to add a bit of dave ellefson to the group Have a listen if ya want: www.myspace.com/screaminunison i think theyre looking for a new singer too atm. Thanks for the advice so far guys!
12. Well im trying out for a band for the first time, any tips? Rik
13. Im getting one put in but its never done it yet, its about 4" off of the wall, really messes with your eyes at times as you cant actually see the hanger. Yeah its a lovely sounding bass, just the neck is now too thin for my hands. I like pbass/warwick necks the most, oh and the yamaha trb1006 (my next bass or its close between that and a corvette)
14. Peavey millenium BXP, in blue. Pics below, taken on my phone, but not too bad quality forgive my little customisation of the neck, i couldnt help myself lol
15. I sound engineer with a band and a bassist i work with has one of the cheaper peaveys, i hate the thing tbh, ive had to pull it apart and fix the input several times because it was not attached well. The sound isnt great and it isnt very loud for a 75w (my 30w is louder). Ashdown has my vote for the bang for the buck.
16. Not the real deal but i found this: http://www.basscentre.com/cat/advanced_sea...9f42698c0348c01
17. 4 stringer (at the mo), rock player with occasional riffs involved, still learning and building on "what kinda bass player" i am too much to catagorise much more than that. Influences: the who, megadeth, rage against the machine, dream theater, iron maiden, ac-dc, offspring, led zep:::::::to name a few
18. I think it would look a LOT better without the pickguard. The shape just doesnt play off it at all! Just my £0.02

DIY bass

If your doing 3 x volume and 3 x tone why not go for a set of 3 stacked knobs? Seems ideal to me
20. BXP, my first bass, still in good condition at about a year old
21. Thats true, i just find simply music uncompromising at times. They said i couldnt try a bass because i wasnt ACTUALLY considering buying it already You have a band then? Oh and feel free to check out the band I engineer and manage: www.myspace.com/andogdemons
22. Oh rite, how does the sound vary with ash as apposed to bubinga?
23. Ive got a peavey millenium and ashdown perfect 10. Considering selling at the moment. Im only selling the bass as im now used to a much thicker neck (pbass) and its now uncomfortable to play. It sounds good and is quite beautiful IMHO. The ashdown perfect 10 is in pretty much perfect condition and im only selling due to now owning a 300w bass amp now. The 30w ashwdown is actually louder than some 100w amps when i A-B'd them. Questions and offers welcome
24. What year? Any ideas on what the bodies made of?
