Actually in some countries "H" is used instead of "B" and "B" means "Bb"
Someone told me that was just because Bach wanted to be able to spell his name
DT100s are tracking headphones. They are designed to give you a useable working sound with the minimum of spill, so that you can record your part(s) while hearing everything clearly but not necessarily accurately. I wouldn't even begin to think about using them for mixing on.
Yeah, they're just very robust (bit like the SM58 logic I guess)... I think it's the DT770 for mixing IIRC?
-
I remember liking Beyers, but then I like mixing on NS10s and they make EVERYTHING sound terrible. The logic being if they sound good on them they'll sound good on anything

First proper gig I went too, even though I wasn't really a fan it was an amazing gig
-
And signed up I'll be really happy if I win (obviously). The other half might not be pleased at me filling a full house even more though
-
Yeah this is just a "buy on", although the fact that it's being offered makes this a bit weirder
-
Just another for Jon, he made a replacement neck for a P bass of mine as a tribute to my nan when she passed

Get a volume pedal for your amp and just keep your playing consistent?
-
You could always get a boost pedal or a pre-amp
Ha! No struggling to hear and no turning up of any amps! Setup time is actually really quick, certainly no longer than it would be to set up any other band (and there's less worry about monitor wedges and potential feedback woes that they cause) - the inears mixes don't change that much from gig to gig. It's prudent to have a technical rehearsal to get everybody's inear mix in the ballpark... and because of the close micing, nothing really changes that much from venue to venue, so just a few tweaks to taste sorts it. All the IEMs are wireless and all the vocal mics are wireless... so there's not that much cabling across stage to actually do. The IEMs are in a rack - connected via a loom... as are the microphones. The thing that takes the longest is probably micing the kit up - but again, 7 is probably quite a lot for inears, but the venue was quite big, so I used those mics for front of house anyway... so it makes sense to put them in the ears mix. Otherwise, a kick and an overhead would do for most gigs... a couple of mins at most to set those up?
I was thinking the clip on route for speed! Very crisp sound though
(Should probably state that the lowend hum at the end is nothing to do with the band - when the fridges or something like that kick in at this particular venue, all the speakers, whether it be the bands or the pub's speakers, start to emit a low end rumble! (Quality filtered electrics then, right?)
Wow! You like to hear yourself a LOT! Each to their own though, whats your setup time like?
Yup, well spotted, I've seen Lozz play there and its a nice little venue, been there for years, with the 'place of worship' a recent newcomer. Signed BTW 9137
Thought it might be, they were creating a bit of a nuisance when I played there a few years back... -
That is stunning!
Being realistic custom made basses usually involve an extended wait time. WAL is 2 years and some and apparently with Carl Thompson you get it when you get it. I understand the irritation, but to be honest, no matter what you were told at the start, 12 months doesn't seem like a long wait for a hand made bass from a very small outfit. Hassling the guys will probably turn out to be counter productive.
I don't think the wait time is directly the problem. It's being told one thing and then it running way past that (without any comms) that's causing the issues
Forgive for being a bit cynical what exactly does this achieve? It say "At 10,000 signatures, government will respond to this petition" What sort of response? Thank you we'll have a look at it, meaning Now f*** off so we can make some money with our property development friends... And "At 100,000 signatures, this petition will be considered for debate in Parliament". That doesn't actually mean it will get debated, and you can be sure that even if it does it will be by and handful of backbench MPs late on a Tuesday evening when everyone is ready to go home...
Any awareness of this is a good thing IMO Nothing to lose by getting signatures and sharing Now, how to we get venues to be able to get rid of nuisance neighbours?! -
Sorted. A venue I play every now & then in Milton Keynes have had a Sikh temple move nearby which is trying to get the venue shut down. Many roads/estates in MK they could have moved to but no, has to be next to a music venue then complain about the noise.
Kiln Farm? -
For C#, a set of 110's should be fine. 105's are good for D, but can start to get a bit too sloppy that extra half step.
I use 110s for standard
That is odd indeed, I'll get onto our colleagues in the US about them being missing from the site. I can however happily confirm that they exist. The codes are: PSB125 PSB100 PSB080 PSB055 or PSB120 PSB095 PSB075 PSB050 All available through Strings Direct as far as I can see.
Ah brilliant, I'll have a look through Strings Direct. Thanks I'm thinking it may be cheaper to mess around with a 5 string set and replace where required but I need to work it out first!
I feel I missed an important word as I jumped to the assumption you were in Drop C# rather than up in fourths... ... that said, I'd still be inclined to but a 120 on the bottom for a C# through experience to get the tension back up to the same as standard tuning. What do you think Andrew? Using Pro Steels EPS 165 as a starting point, dropping each string down three semitones for C# standard, I make the new gauges as .125, .100, .080 and .055 to get the tensions back up again so they are the same as standard tuning. The next set of gauges down, so slightly less tension than standard are: 120, 95, 75 and 50 in the Pro Steels. That seems to be a good place to be and is also very close to the Balanced Tension gauges mentioned earlier. Unless I've missed something, is that still not the best set for the application? I call upon your expert knowledge!
The only problem is, the 95 and 75 aren't on the site as singles

Hmm... the question is... going singles do I just up the whole set by 10 or C + 10 and the rest + 5 Going for a straight + 10 (+5 isn't always available) puts the set at £32
-
They do, see above. Tons of string choices available and all listed on the D'Addario website!
Might need to look into that, although I expect singles will work out pricey.... *goes to look
-
It's ok, I think it'd be possible to have a Pro Steel set made up with similar gauges! Maybe D'Addario will be along to chime in shortly
If they do I'm converting... I love prosteels and I'm running out of my custom sets from Newtone from my ACG in Drop C
