Smooth Hound Innovations Digital Wireless Guitar System
charic replied to Dood's topic in Accessories and Misc
Just regular Jack to Jack leads...I did cut down one of the leads that worked best but the noise returned.
Weird! -
Smooth Hound Innovations Digital Wireless Guitar System
charic replied to Dood's topic in Accessories and Misc
OK...after a lot of trial and error, I've identified the source of my noise problem.... I use my Smooth Hound on a board with just my Zoom B3 - both with their own PSU's. If I use a patch lead to connect them (or a hard connector) I get massive noise, unless I use the active setting and whack on the noise reduction. If I use a long (20ft) lead to join the Smooth Hound to the Zoom, the signal is clear with no noise on any setting! I've tried it with the shortest lead I have - about 6ft - and I get a little noise. It seems the shorter the lead, the louder the noise. All my connectors are decent quality, so it's not them that are responsible for the noise. Am I doing something daft or do I have to use a 20ft cable as a patch lead to get a clean signal?
Is one balanced and one not? -
Best fender I've played? [sharedmedia=core:attachments:148729] Mexican P Bass Seymour Duncan 1/4lb Pickups BAII Bridge Kiogon Wiring Loom Replacement Shuker P Bass Neck (nice and chunky, modelled after my ACG)

I like using guitarpro or similar, take the rhythm from the score and the positional information from the tab. I can sight read quite complex pieces like this

Don't Get Spoiled By The Festival & Fair Season
charic replied to blue's topic in General Discussion
And I personally think they were too big for festivals. Blue
You're never too big for festivals http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJFZTR5SVno -
Because it's hard enough finding one reliable keyboard player never mind 2 or 3?
oi
There is a Swindon band called Syntronix who cover 80s electro pop.
I'm guessing that the complexity involved in getting the exact right sounds together would be a bit offputting
-
another one bites the dust?
Gargh I thought I was going to get to suggest that one

What if your definition of good doesn't match fenders? Or ours for that matter?

I love reason, I used to use it in college. It's purely a monetary restriction at the moment!
A minority of at least two! And there is actually a free version of PT now, but by all accounts it sucks!
Woohoo! Viva la resistance!

Seems I'm in the minority. I'm a protools user, have been for ages. I sometimes miss use logic though (no mac)

3D Printing pickup covers / handmade pickup covers

What a cool idea! -
Dave Ellefson is my go-to but you said not rock

Yep, he'll never want/need a second cab and the MESA does 4 or 2ohm settings. The reason I asked about the 4ohm amp and 2ohm cab scenario was purely for gear sharing
-
Wired in series (OBBM can make up such a connection box...) it would be fine. Wired in parallel (as is the 'norme' with amps and cabs...), probably 'magic smoke'. I know of no bass amps that will accept a load of less than 2 ohms without complaint.
Sorry, I got myself muddled lol I meant a 4Ohm AMP with a 2Ohm CAB
-
yep its connected to my mac, editing templates works ok but if you load an artists tone print then hit edit it reverts straight back to the default template and all the settings are lost
Well that's dumb. I guess it's so you can't see their secrets
I went for the 8ohm version as I don't have an amp that runs down to 2ohms. He's not going to be left wanting for volume whichever option he takes.
Out of interest, what would happen if someone used a 4ohm cab with the 2ohm version? Amp go bang?
-
Good shout on the amp. Depending on what he's done to his back 4x10's can be a little awkward to left given the handle positions - some find lifting two 1x12's easier, might be worth doing a test-lift before spending.
He moves a peavey 4x10 fairly easily at the rehearsal room so I'm not too worried
It gives full power at 4 or 2 ohms so it doesn't matter, but I'd get a 4ohm cab to give the amp an easier life. You can always add another cab later if required..... D.
I'm pretty sure it comes in 8ohm or 2Ohm options only
2ohm is what I went for its a beast!
That's what we like to hear unfortunately there aren't any to try out before laying down cash

Now my bassist has a new overdrive (Darkglass B3K) ... And a new compressor (TC Hypergravity) Next up is the amp and cab. He's seriously missing his old SVT2 but damaged his back a bit a few years back and isn't comfortable shifting the weight around (oh to have roadies...). At the moment it's looking like a Barefaced410 and a subway D800. From all accounts this should be MORE than loud enough for our heavy handed drummer and should have enough "HEFT" to hit the back of his legs like he wants. Would he be best of going for the 2ohm Barefaced410 do we think?
I just got a spectra comp, new to TonePrint, I have the Nathan east preset at the moment but want to tweak the response - is there a way to edit the artists tone prints or do you just have to start from one of the TC templates? Is thee any way to view all the settings on an artist's TonePrint?
Not sure yet, I would guess that you could edit it on the computer software (rather than phone?)
-
I'm still fighting with the software. My PC doesn't like it. I'm going to try some different software.
I went with Blender in the end. It was an absolute 'mare' to get my head around and I actually found myself getting so frustrated I had to leave the house and go for a walk
I think that a great deal depends on the raw material being good quality stuff from the outset, preferably filmed expressly for the occasion. I'll humbly admit, though, that my very first attempt was a far cry from that above (and successive ones not much of an improvement, unfortunately..! ). It didn't stop me from posting some of them here, though, back in the 'Promotion for the Basschat Composition Challenge' days.
Well... the music is all original. It's the intro to one of my new bands tracks (where I play keys). The laughing is a granular synth and the twinkles are a music box setting... love this keyboard though The clips of video on the other hand are all free license bits I scavenged from around the web and the logo was made by Andy Pilkington of very metal art who I HIGHLY recommend.
Wow, first time? That's pretty impressive!!
Thanks, I can't say it was easy unfortunately
That has worked well. Really gets a certain feeling across. Such simple stuff but the editing has made it work so well.
Thanks, I really appreciate it

Well he's gone for the Hyper gravity in the end. Looks very configurable so I'm sure we can get something useable out of it
