1. Made this for my band, god video editing is frustrating. Quite rewarding though. Thoughts? Got any of your own? http://youtu.be/2-PQJsfuWNQ
 2.
Yeah I was going straight through the 'desk' rather than using a microphone, just never seems to be a nice tone :/
Yeah, something like positivegrid bias is perfect for tone shaping after that point https://www.positivegrid.com/bias-desktop/
 3. I would advice using DI and something like BIAS over trying to MIC at home. Especially if you're quite new to recording
 4.
It's where TIM lives now
Maybe be the next one
 5.
i think it's brilliant
Me too ofcourse, if blue has any problem with it I will remove it at the closest opportunity. I just think it's an inside joke way of saying "not round here" now
 6.
That was funny. IMHO. Sadly, it may also have been an example of the mob mentality that often rears its ugly head on BC. I'd not have expected you to be part of that, Dad. I really hope I missed something here, and that I'm am completely wrong.
To be fair, I added that emoticon onto the list as the phrase had popped up a fair bit and was starting to be used out of context as a bit of a "BC phrase". No illwill intended at all
 7.
I hummed and hawed between the two, the ultimate deciding factor ended up Bassdirect having the Hypergravity in stock although I was veering more towards that one anyway. I think if youhave time to use the editor software they're all but equal, but for me the mid gig control of 4 knobs outweighs the fun aspect of all those bassists' Toneprints. Love it. :-)
Do you not get the toneprints on the Hypergravity then?
 8. That needs a black scratch plate
 9. What's the difference between the hypergravity and the stecracomp then? If they can both use the toneprint and are both compressors... I'm confused
 10. I think I remember Molan saying his shop use APC and have never had an issue
 11. So, my bassist is looking for a compressor. The super symmetry ticks all the boxes but is slightly over budget. Looking at around £150 what would you recommend? I've suggested the TC Hypergravity...
 12. Dammit I thought it was going to be an actual keytar
 13.
Or upgrade the BB2 to an FR800 which would be even better!
That was my next suggestion
 14. Cut out the middleman and get a powered pa speaker?
 15.
IMO the simplest way to future-proof your computer-based recording system, is to buy a cheap computer running the OS of your choice that supports your current audio interface, and reserve it just for doing music on. I bought a second-hand 3Ghz 8-core Mac Pro with 32GB RAM for £300 - I could have got one for less if I'd been able to travel to pick it up in person. It will run any Mac OS from Snow Leopard onwards and therefore will support Logic 8 onwards with the right OS. Has more than enough processing power for what ever you need to do and room for 4 internal SATA drives so you are unlikely to ever run out of room for recording or samples to use with your plug-in instruments. I've made recordings that have been released on CD and got national radio play on machines with considerably lower specifications - you don't need to latest version of anything to make great sounding recordings.
Damn that's a bargain.. hadn't thought of that!
 16. Budget? Does the focusrite support phantom power? How noisy is it outside of the room (do you need to worry about cars passing etc.)
 17.
The Amplug is so tiny though and it hangs off your bass output socket so it's almost like plugging headphones straight in! But Vox also do headphones with the Amplug built in now too:

OK, thanks to Google answered my own question: http://www.gear4musi...-Headphones/O69
I think I can see a correlation here
 18.
I must get round to trying it on vocals - the L6 forum guys reckon it's very good for that. I imagine a keyboard with any of the new generation modellers would be great fun. Alas I haven't got one to try it!
To be fair, I expect the effects on my Kronos2 will be up there with those on these modellers
 19.
Glad I picked the Helix then! I run 2 amp blocks in parallel all the time, and on one of them I also have parallel FX too.
I doubt it's as much of a "deal" for me though. For me it's a studio bit of kit for all instruments and then bass for live (although I'm on keys mostly these days)
 20.
I wonder if there is confusion between amps and FX. http://www.musicrada...ctal-ax8-635766 The review says only 1 amp block - I wonder if it's 1 amp at a time, but parallel on FX? Amps need much more DSP than effects.
Yeah, only one amp block but up to 4 parallel chains for effects
 21. Been chatting with a few people, looks like the ax8 can run 4 parallel paths... think this one is leading the race at the moment for me
 22.
I think the AX8 only has one path. No bass friendly split signals.
I will investigate!
 23.
i don't think it's too dissimilar here to be honest, but sometimes people just like something different. personally i can't see the standard wedding crowd reacting to an originals band as they would a covers band, but when it comes to weddings its a very personal thing.
Its a bit of an alternative do. There's more than one band playing too, the other may be a covers band
 24. I've gigged with mojoslide, definitely not forgotten them I should have mentioned we're actually travelling to the wedding and IIRC it's actually in the knebworth area. Thanks for all the input so far!
