1.
I'd be the first to say I'm sort of stuck in the 60s & 70s. And there's not a better musical time period to be stuck in. I'm quite comfortable here. Blue
Sounds like my idea of hell 80s onwards for me, although I'm really liking the musical turnout from bands in recent years to be honest so I guess I like being stuck where I am?! Though there are a few bands I wouldn't mind dropping back in time to see!
 2.
That wouldn't work for me at all. I wouldn't be happy leaving outside the entire PA, electronic drum kit, lights & lasers, etc.
... and groupies!
 3. I would take everything you would for a gig (I always have just incase). However, walk in with just your bass, cables and effects. Let them know you've got the rig in the car just incase, there's no negative here it just shows you're prepared and professional. Get in and set up quickly, greet everyone and be polite but professional. Make sure they know you're enjoying yourself, don't be the only still person in the room. Confidence sells. At the end, if you want the gig ask any questions you need answered and only stick around for as long as you feel welcome. If they want you to stick around it's a good sign, remember to get any contact details when you can
 4.
That really is quite lovely.
It really is The one offputting thing is the the centre is on the 13th fret
 5.
I can't quite see what the inlay is. It looks quite intricate. Any other pics?
I'll try to take one when I get home. In the meantime this is about the best I can find online
 6.
Probably my favourite signature bass... Peavey B Quad 4 Brian Bromberg sig.
That's a bit nice! I've got one of these
 7.
By the way, his webhost are having problems - he reckons his site will be down for 8-10 days. He's contactable by Facebook in the meantime.
Tell him to look at the possibility of Microsoft hosting, it's ridiculously cheap for a really basic site these days
 8. Peavey Millenium BXP, I now miss it but know not to get another as the neck was too skinny for me and gave me hand cramp.. mind you I used to play for 5 hours a day on it!
 9.
I'm telling you, for guys like me, not really networked or on the A list for getting calls for work, finding a band with a good solid book of business is impossible in my area.
Pfft you think you've got it bad, your state is 1/10th of the size of our whole country (ok, the populations are a bit different though )
 10.
So you only play the music you love, and you're making a living from it, but if you only played the music you love you'd be broke and bandless?!?!
Or does he love playing music he doesn't love and consequently not being broke and bandless #paradox
 11.
If your really "in this" compromise comes into the picture. If I restricted myself to only the music like, I'd be broke and bandless. Blue
A lot of us have music as a hobby rather than a primary source of income. I very much doubt I could get the same income from playing in a band (and stability) that I do from my day job. Having the day job lets me find bands that I see as having potential (or forming) and not worrying about the money aspect
 12. Good luck finding a member, not my kinda thing unfortunately
 13.
Ok then I appreciate the 'other items' is already quite a busy forum, SO I propose two things!: 1. 'sell anything' forum is unlocked so that anyone can view it. It's currently locked to members only for some reason, which undoubtably doesn't help. 2. It is moved up the list so that it sits below 'other items' , this would bring it into line as a proper classifieds area rather than the poor cousin to the other areas! p.s. selling legit software is not difficult
I think the content of the thread is showing why things generally haven't naturally gone down that route. The site is slowly evolving though so I'll have a chat with ped when I next see him about how we handle sales forums going forward
 14. Selling software is problematic but other than that the sell anything is there for specifically that purpose. It being less busy is GOOD! It means your items stay at the stop for longer
 15.
I do, and have done for many years. See post #18, where I quite clearly state "I stopped gigging years ago & I'll never be in another band".
I'm very similar to yourself but I've not given up yet. I've found the reward when you find the right people more than worth the heartache of when you don't. The problem is it's a long and arduous project
 16. Project the footie behind the band, people will be up the front of the crowd then
 17. Yeah that's on my ACG 4 String. Sounds great. The only problems I can see with retuning the 5 is the differences in tension and also having to alter the nut on your bass
 18. I use Newtone strings when drop tuning, they make me sets specifically for it
 19. Just do it more often and you should be ok? Plus... that's a bloody long session. I don't care who you are, if you're not a bit tired after a set like that then you're not putting enough effort into it...
 20. At which point does it become reformed? There's quite a few who have had significant lineup changes An example is the amount of changes that have been made to Dream Theaters lineup over the years
 21. I love yammys but it may be worth seeing what you can find second hand
 22. Get another gig on the same day at a different venue nearby. Advertise the hell out of it, play a great set and next time get the slot they wanted at the same venue
 23. Try putting a very very small amount of folded paper into the offending nut slot. Usually it means that the slot is either too deep and/or wide
