1. The Zutons, they were supporting REM who were absolutely brilliant
2.
Or they could make the keys more expressive...
I find the seaboard really hard to get on with, my fingers want to stick to it which seems to fly in the face of the sliding functionality
3.
I've bought a couple of basses this year and sold a couple of pedals.
Excellent plan, pedals are much easier to sneak in
4. I'm working on a new version of BC, to be fair I've been working on it bloody ages but my god this forum software is a git to develop. Let we can get all NEW bugs to play with
5. Band with good shows lined up looking for an (ideally) 7 string guitarist to complete out lineup. 3 songs written, 6 in progress. We're a symphonic metal band with a slightly heavier twist and a HUGE sound. You will be the sole guitarist so solid rhythm and hard hitting riffs are required to be able to bounce off of the keyboardist. Looking to practice around the St Albans area although this is not currently set in stone Influences include: Sonata Arctica Draconian Disturbed Within Temptation Dream Theater Epica Kamelot Krypteria Ability to record at home a massive bonus. Here's a song we started a couple of weeks ago if you're interested. https://soundcloud.com/made-in-madness/evolutionevolved Drop me a line! Rik
6. Sounds like a sound engineers worst nightmare
7. Interesting thought but it wouldn't work with my cab (It has wheels)
8.
Cheers again for all of the advice folks I'm going to zoom over to Strings Direct today and see if I can pick up some nice ones that might make a bit of difference. If not then I guess it'll be time to have a look for another bass. I checked out the Myung singnature bass and it looks fantastic. Going to have to keep my eyes open on here for when one of those comes up - especially given all the great stuff I have heard about Yammaha basses in general.
I love my RBX6JM, if you're ever in the area then give me a shout
9. Yeah definitely sounds like it needs a replacement :/
10.
They wouldn't be able to say that if Jaco and Mick Karn were still alive...
Unless it was Jaco or Mick Karn...
11. I've only played fretless once!
12.
Myself and John East will be there, building stock for it already.
Chicken or Beef?
13. What bass compressor would you recommend <£100?
14. Isn't the Bergantino NV610 around £1100? That would be about in line for if they brought out and 810 I expect?
15. Love gigging, first gig for a while on Sunday. Can't wait after last nights practice
16. Really good reading here guys, Out of interest what kind of rate are you talking for mastering with Formation?
17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkZFuKHXa7w
18.
Correct Jack. The law of the universe is that green basses are light. So, green bass, 4 string, non Fender with Fender decal and 4 inch strap are the only legally acceptable basses.
Try my two green basses and tell me they're light I dare you
19. You could always run a noisegate and then a compressor. That way your driven sounds will be a similar volume to your clean
20.
Thanks I've never heard of 5.1 headphones, brilliant !
They can get silly expensive too How's this for an interesting concept! http://www.dv247.com/headphones/beyerdynamic-headzone-pro-xt-professional-5-1-surround-headphone-processor--58402
21. You might be able to get away with using a plugin for composition at home (then polish it at uni), few ideas here : http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=356395 Failing that you could try and find some 5.1 Headphones reasonably : http://en-uk.sennheiser.com/rs-175 (Not tried these but were the first non-gaming ones I came across) Also some interesting reading here : http://www.soundsonline-forums.com/showthread.php?t=48748
22. You need 5 of the same speakers for your surrounds, you're better off using cheap speakers all around than trying to use your genelecs with something cheaper as surrounds IMHO.. I'm not sure it's something you're going to be able to do on the cheap well at all as you need a good room too... we just used the uni's gear when I did it. Surround sound headphones can give you a good starting point though.
23.
Perhaps he's just put it on at a higher price than where he actually values it, so he's got room to negotiate downward and still get the price he wants?
That would be my guess
