1.
I'm assuming that this will give the sound guy something good to work with, and he can add the big low end back on the desk eq, right?
A sound engineer is going to struggle to add in bass if it's not there originally, just something worth thinking about
2. There was a full commerce system developed a few years back, it was decided by the community to keep things this way
3.
Scott's video is really good. My bass teacher taught me to position my hands like that right from lesson 1, so luckily I've never got into any 'bad habits' in that way. I don't think I could actually play with my thumb over the fretboard even if I tried to.
I'm the same, it just doesn't feel right. However it turns out I can play with an ovenglove on (drunken bet)
4. Have you tried a different browser?
5. A modular rig that maxes out at a 8 x ? at 4Ohms? Possible components 6" | 8" | 10" | 12" All come with the option of ported or unported so for example a rig could potentially be : 4 x (1 x 6 unported) 4 x (1 x 12 ported)
6.
+1 Edit - but not as 'safe' as the Dimension Bass. hard task though init?
yes... and no... Musicman seem to be managing well enough
7. They obviously gave up on the compacts when they noticed the handles Congrats!
8. Yeah, leave the police too it IMHO. If you push too hard on the singer there's a strong possibility he'll just chuck the lot away to be rid of the evidence
9. Can you post a picture of how you're stringing up?
10. Yeah a bit of surgical spirit put on daily did the trick for me when starting out. Also it might be worth looking at changing brand of string. Some are much tougher on the fingers than others.
11.
I've been here since May 2007 and on bassworld before that for about 2 years and I've always been uninteresting and worthless.
No you haven't mate Remember that one time? *runs away
12. I've had to have a tidyup while we look into certain topics further in depth
13. Can we please be careful about what we say? Lets bear in mind that Wayne and his friends may be reading this and though I stand by the decision made I have no ill feelings towards him
14. I do wonder why we never get into this with amps
15.
Why am I thinking ' Kangaroo Courts....' I have no other reason for this, other than this current thread is making me think there are unmarked police cars patrolling Basschat, ready to pull over folks who have overstepped whatever marks should not be overstepped, and very quicky dispense the justice or punishment the offender deserves...in there opinion..... or is there a vote of some sort....Is this the way it works ? I genuinely don't know, but would like to. Can I be pounced on for thinking like this. I was wonderfully oblivious to it all until this thread appeared, and now I am wondering, probably like many others, about how much control is being exerted behind the scenes,( if any.) Its the ole can of worms big style eh....
Warning can be gained for a few different reasons, most of which pretty much equate to being negative to the community, the full list of rules is visible in most mods sigs Most common offences : fee evasion, excessive swearing, offensive or inappropriate images/topics and bullying If we have any doubt about a warning being issued we discuss it as a team, if there is no doubt then the warning is issued and THEN we discuss it as a team. In some cases this is so cut and dry the conversations are very short. In other cases it can be very long and drawn out. It's a case by case basis I hope that clears things up
16.
Nobody has asked for disclosure of the ins and outs of private conversations. However, if the mods had acted reasonably in banning a member, there would be no need to be so secretive about it. Some people might conclude that they have something to hide.
I can assure you we have nothing to hide. The simple case is that we don't disclose reasons for warning and the like. That's just the policy we have
17. Headstock sort of reminds me of : But better
18. I've found that 58s REALLY don't suit my voice. My condenser sounds... less bad
19.
I'll play I've gone for 10, 15, 12 because at its simplest biggest is muddiest. But the absolutely enormous elephant in the room for me is that you haven't said how the hell the cabs were mic'ed up, and that can have the most enormous effect on the sound that we are now hearing, I can get a 10" cone to sound like the ultimate dub bass speaker just through mic choice (typically a ribbon) and position (off axis and angled at 45 degress), I can get a 15" cone to sound like a slapper's dream using a different mic (SDC) and positions (straight into the dust cover as close as it will go). So its all for larks and don't take it too seriously chaps
They were DI'd so it would be a fair test
