1. I'm looking at moving on my strat and amp and going to using plugins and a decent metal guitar for my recordings as I'm struggling to get the sound and playability I want from my current setup. Top end of my budget is around 350 and I'm happy to go secondhand but would rather avoid eBay. Any suggestions on a decent contender? I'm finding myself drawn to esp, ibanez (particularly rg series) and bc rich mockingbirds
 2. Use loads of loopers so they're all parallel
 3.
No, no paint on the back of the neck... to be honest had a Fernandes bass with the neck also painted and I didn't like the feel.
I think it depends on the paint used but fair enough, I've played "sticky" feeling necks and know what you mean but my shuker neck is really easy to play

 5. Please tell me that the back of the neck is painted white too! Then it would be damn near perfection

 10.
I'm not posting this for bragging rights, to be honest I find it all a bit much to take in at the minute! BUT, the band I play in have been added to the bill this morning for Download! I'm kind of in shock as we're a new band (of old gezzers!) and things have really taken off very quickly. We're opening the 4th stage on the Saturday and.....that's all I know so far. I'm a KISS fan but, can't be ever so slightly disappointed that I'm not playing the same day as them; as Ace Frehley is playing on the day we are so, Win-Win! As soon as it was confirmed I started thinking about rig, changeovers, set ups, what we're allowed to take (free passes for the Sunday....) etc, etc. So genuinely, my question is has anyone played there or had any experience with the Download set up from band POV?
Bloody hell! Nice one! Do you need a second bassist or 30,000 of us?
 11. I wonder who got there first Mine was sent at around 7 too
 12.
It's not a bass.
Ah! Must be misremembering (is that a word?)
 13. Well it turns out that I'm not going on tour after all They've decided that after 2 practices we're not gelling and that they're going to go back to playing live without a bassist. Bit gutted but hey it gives me a chance to sort my own songs
 14. Lots of advice on diet here which I wasn't expecting! I've been told we have a microwave on board so I'm sure I can rustle summat up. One of my favourite meals is microwaveable (tinned tomatoes and tuna with chilli sauce)
 15. Get out there and try it Froggy I played my first gig after only 4 weeks of playing and it went down a storm. You don't know until you try
 16. Onto something for the next Gen alex! Changeable skins and grills for cabs Magnet mounted?
 17.
That`s a recipe for much ill-health. I think The Crue are all inhuman, no ordinary mortals could handle their (back then) lifestyles.
I which case I shall follow the example set in Ozzys Auto Biography

 20.
Where is the tour, UK, Europe, USA? I've done my fair share of touring in the UK and abroad and there are many things to learn as you go round. Most things are pretty much common sense. On stage my view is to quickly establish a logical and methodical approach to setting up and breaking down your gear. That way you are less likely to leave anything behind or wire things up wrongly. Always be polite to the guys/girls setting up the stage, FOH and monitor sound they usually will have a better view of how the sound will be at a particular venue. I never leave my bass plugged in on stage unless I'm playing it for obvious reasons and if you must, then don't leave your bass plugged in whilst the stage is being setup, I've seen the inevitable happen a number of times and the aftermath is unpleasant.
Yeah, I'm a stickler for unplugging anyway (although apparently I'm going to be on wireless for the first time ever) We're playing around the UK Manchester Academy 3 Newcastle SU The Institute Birmingham O2 Academy Islington The Fleece Bristol Excited? Me? Yeah a bit
 21.
People don't normally get this much concentrated playing experience, so just make sure you start the next gig where you left off the night before.
I'm guessing you don't mean the venue
Do not...DO NOT...drink a bottle of Southern Comfort at 10am while waiting to be picked up in the van. By the time you play the first gig you will be grumpy as hell.
I've been told we operate on a no pre-gig drinks policy
 22. Our tour manager has sorted us with shared hotel rooms for the whole tour (it's only 5 days). I'm sharing with the drummer and he's really cool so no problems there! Also I don't get hangovers for some unknown reason either Lozz Checklist Pants Painkillers Booze Febreeze
 23. I'm going on my first ever tour with my new (to me) band in a few weeks and I wondered if anyone had any advice?
